Inna Segal is a psychotherapist and author whose work focuses on the intersection of religion and spirituality. She has written such books as "The Spiritual Awakening of the World" and "Religion and Spirituality: A Guide to Healing Ourselves and Our World." One of Segal's emerging theories is that the world seems to be more spiritual now than ever before. Segal expressed this idea through her book "The Spiritual Awakening of the World," in which she states that the world is just now transitioning into a new era of spiritual awakening. This new era is characterized by unprecedented collective awareness, a global sense of interconnectedness, and a heightened sense of our collective power. Throughout history, people have always had dreams and visions, or felt connected to something greater than themselves; however, during her lifetime, Segal sees an increase in many people actually feeling like they can make these connections, and that it is possible to create change in their lives and the world around them. Segal argues that what we are experiencing today is a shift in consciousness from individualized to collective. As our understanding becomes more collective, we have become more mindful of how we are connected as human beings as opposed to individualized experiences. This increased awareness leads people to focus on shared values such as equality and justice while simultaneously becoming more aware of their power in creating these values. Segal also argues that people have been developing spiritual awakenings across cultures, religions, and belief systems--especially those who are embracing their inherent spirituality instead of resisting it.
