Get ready to change your life!!
I've been a member of the 131 Method online program since January 2018, and I am extremely fortunate to have received an advanced copy of the 131 Method Book!1) The 131 Method Book is based on all the latest scientific research. I don't know about you, but I love the how and why of things. If someone explains that, and explains it to where this non-science chick can follow along, I'm in. The 131 Method is not based on the latest fad or hype, nor is based on any research backed by a group or company with an agenda. The info is from unbiased, double-blind studies. And Chalene always says, "this is based on what we know NOW." We're always learning new things; new studies are always being published. And if needed, 131 will be updated.2) The 131 Method Book reads like your best friend is talking to you. It may be based on science, but Chalene does an amazing job of breaking it all down into explanations anyone can understand. Like I said, science is not really my thing, but I'm finding even I can't get enough - I've read the book several times before it ever launched. And I love Chalene's messages in the margins!3) The 131 Method is completely customizable. Let's face it, we are all different. What works for you may not work for me. What works your bestie isn't going to work for her husband. So why follow some diet plan that completely ignores that? In 131, you won't find a steadfast list of "eat this, don't eat that." There is a structure to follow and recommendations, but ultimately, it's all up to you. You make all the rules and decisions, because this is YOUR diet. And by the way, diet in this book means "way of eating," not rules and restrictions galore.4) The delicious recipes!! OK, so my advanced copy didn't include the recipes, but if they're half as fabulous as the recipes in the online program, I know they'll be amazing! And based on the sneak peeks I've seen so far, I know I'll be spending even more time in my kitchen!5) This is probably the most important reason I love this book and this program. It is helping me dive into the root cause of just about anything going on in my body. I've never been a fan of just throwing medicines or supplements at a problem. I believe in resolving the underlying issues, not the symptoms (Wow, if the entire healthcare system would jump on that, we'd be soooo much better off!!). As it turns out, there are a whole lot of issues that can be traced back to our diet. How about that! I used to brag that I could eat whatever I wanted and never have any digestive issues like so many other people I knew. Well, while it was true I didn't have belly issues, my reactions manifested in other ways - like that afternoon energy slump, being hungry 24/7, irregular sleep, acne, among other issues. 131 is helping me identify what foods are causing me issues and heal my body. The afternoon slump is gone, my sleep is better, and my acne is improving. And I'm not eating all the friggin' time! That's just the beginning!This book wasn't written to be just another diet book among the masses. Chalene wrote this after developing an eating plan to heal herself after her own health scare (you'll have to read the book to get the story!) and then was tested on tens of thousands of people who saw their own health improve. This absolutely isn't a diet book. It is the beginning of a revolution. Join the movement, pick up this book today, and reclaim your health!

Good info, complicated method, book fell apart
Pros:-I like that Chalene places emphasis on reducing inflammation by figuring out what causes problems for you, individually, vs. a blanket elimination diet.-Chalene puts you in the drivers seat, which is empowering. You aren't told what to do with 100% perfection or shamed for not following rules. You're given information and get to make educated choices. ”Diets are dumb. You aren't.” She repeats that throughout the book.-If followed diligently, I have no doubt the 131 Method would work. You're trading processed food for nutrient-rich whole foods, reducing the number of hours a day you consume food, and fasting (in some way) for about 1/4 of the 12-week program. Hopefully you're also learning which foods cause inflammatory effects like bloating, headaches, and pain, which will make you feel amazing even if your body doesn't drastically change.-The recipes look delicious! I have recently discovered that gluten makes my extremities numb and tingly, so I appreciate that the recipes are gluten-free. There are even some recipes for treats that fit the plan guidelines... as long as you have the macros to spare.-All the worksheets in the book are available online, so you don't need to write in your book if you don't want to.Cons:-It’s basically a keto diet (macro tracking) to begin with, combined with intermittent fasting and elimination diet principles. Then, you change up the ratio of macros. Lastly, you cycle macro ratios. Oh, and you should also be habitually drinking 75+ oz. of water a day. So, you basically are not only changing what you eat, but also when and how much, while trying to form a new water drinking habit. In other words, it’s a bit complicated. I'm sure it becomes second nature with time, but a steep learning curve is an obstacle most people will have to overcome to follow the 131 Method.-I wish there was more info about tracking macros. At one point Chalene says to ignore calorie ranges in macro tracking apps and focus only on hitting the fat/protein/carb percentages, but without a calorie goal, it’s nearly impossible to plan meals or know how many grams of a certain macro you should be eating to keep your percentages on target. Should we be weighing food to ensure accuracy when not following the provided recipes? Like I said, complicated. There's probably better info and more support in the online course, which I know she is hoping people end up investing in after finishing the book. In that case, save the money on the book and invest in the online course if you think you'll be confused.-Chalene is a brilliant businesswoman. I applaud her for that! She can literally sell something without you even realizing you're being sold to. But, when the book is sprinkled with affiliate links for products like organic wine or a box of high quality meats, and she doesn't specifically state that those are things she earns commission for, it feels sneaky in a way. She is always calling people on IG out for not using identifiers like #ad, so it's surprising to me that she's not more forthright about the affiliate links in her book. Just be aware that there are affiliate links in the book, and plugs for her other products such as workout videos, 131 Method water bottles, and the 131 Method online program.-My book binding absolutely fell apart after having it for less than a week. I'm having to get it replaced and return my original copy. Slightly annoying. Also, there is missing punctuation and some spelling errors in the text, which reduces the quality of the product in my opinion.Overall, the information is well presented and approachable, and stays true to Chalene’s ”voice” and branding. I can tell she designed the 131 Method from a genuine desire to push back at an industry full of greed, body shaming, and misinformation. That's commendable, for sure. I would buy the book again, but wish I would have known that I was going to be ”sold to, ” that I would feel a bit overwhelmed, and that the quality of the binding and editing would leave something to be desired. Four stars for content, three stars for the overall product.

Lifestyle, not diet!
Well-laid out science behind the method, easily digestible ;-) This phased approach - which does NOT promise to suit all, unlike so many others - just makes sense and has encouraged me to take a serious stab at better gut health.

Disappointed
I have to say I am disappointed with the recipes in this book ..... Some of them.are plain to simply to call it a recipe and use 2 pages of a book for it ...

Get ready to free yourself from the dieters mentality
This book is is a game changer, it is not like any other diet book out there. 131 Method is about changing and healing your body from the inside out, starting with your gut health and mindset first. Unlike all other diet books out there, there is so much information about why your doing what your doing and how it affects you. There are rules but the rules are the ones you create and for me that was a little bit of a struggle in the beginning, because I like so many other people was so used to be told what I can and can not have and do. But we are all individuals and a cookie cutter program is not going to work for everyone. If your tired of the same old same old them you need this book. I have never felt more free to enjoy outings with my family and friends.

Be open- it’s insightful and helpful
Love Chalene’s message and positive personality .Great insight as to why you should follow strategies to better your health instead of “only do this” to lose weight.It isn’t or shouldn’t be about losing weight but being all around healthy.Have already made two recipes from this book, they were easy to follow and make. My family not only enjoyed both meals but happily ate left overs too! Bonus!I am now a Chalene follower. I definitely recommend this book.Only annoying thing I can mention is that she recommended (a few times) downloading templates from her 131 website- but you have to pay a membership to access.

Lots of Info but need to do the homework alone
Ich höre den Podcast welches von CJ sehr gut ist, aber dieses Buch gibt mir einiges an Info für die verschiedene Phasen aber ich muss selber einen Plan machen. Ich hätte es gerne etwas leichter und habe das Buch seid einen Monat jedoch den Anfang für phase 1 Ignite, nicht gefunden da ich selbst meinen Plan mehr oder weniger zusammen stellen muss. Hätte gerne etwas mehr anleitung gehabt und fürchte es wird noch einen Buch sein der im Regal einfach landet! Ob die Methode funktioniert weiss ich nicht, denke alle methoden funktioniert mann muss nur das richtige für einen selbst finden. Bei diese Methode muss ich vorab mehr selbst an Planung investieren als ich persönlich wollte da ich ziemlich beschäftigt bin.
