Living Vegan For Dummies

A Must Have Book for Everyone
This book is a must have for anyone wanting to learn about living Vegan. Years ago I tried becoming a vegetarian but gave up because the diet seemed to have a high emphasis on dairy as a source of protein and calcium. I have always had problems digesting dairy and the older I get the less dairy I am able to eat. I got very excited when I started reading Alexandra's book and found out that I can eat a healthy vegetarian diet without all that dairy! Living Vegan for Dummies is a very comprehensive book with many useful tidbits throughout to keep you thinking. One thing I realized after reading this book is that many of the foods we eat on a daily basis are vegan, so it's not like we have a long jump into Veganism. Get this book even if your goal is to only eat better. The recipes included in this book are easy to follow and sound very delicious! My must tries are the "Tofu Pad Thai", "Miso Stew", "Wake-Me-Up-Before-You-Go-Go Smoothie" and the "Creamy Broccoli Soup". There are many more, but these I will try first!!!!!! Living Vegan for Dummies was a great find!

Perfect book for a "beginner's" library
I have been waiting for this book to be released for months. Finally, I bought it for myself for Christmas. It is fantastic! I'm not vegan, or even really vegetarian yet for that matter. Because of recent health scares with my children I'm interested in guiding my family toward a more plant-based diet and plan to eventually become vegan myself. This book lays out the "hows" and "whys" of a vegan lifestyle and helps a newbie learn how to get the most nutritional bang for the buck. While I was reading this book from start to finish in one afternoon, I couldn't help but feel as if Alexandra Jamieson wrote this book specifically for me. I was a fan of her webistes, [...] and then [...]. She is a very knowledgable source for nutritional information and writes as if she were sitting and talking with you while sipping tea at your kitchen table. I am so pleased with this book and I'm certain I will refer to it over and over in the years to come. Thank you Chef Alex for such a great book!

straight forward advice
This is a pretty good book about how to live, not just eat, a vegan lifestyle. Especially helpful is how to get along with non-vegans, especially family members. Surprisingly, the social impact is more difficult to manage than the diet and this book calls that out.

Good For All (athletes too)
This is a really good book that covers alot of issues. There was recipes, advice, information, ect. If your just trying veganism, want to learn more, or need to know something, this is the best source I have came across. I highly recommend it. Personally, I am an athelete and wanted to learn more about what vegan foods I should be eating. This book had several chapters that covered what I wanted, and several more chapters I didn't realize that I also wanted. Everyone interested in different foods or lifestyles should have this book.

What is a Vegan
So after the doctor advised that I should consider becoming a vegan I needed more information. This book is helpful but leaves some questions so I got the plant-based diet for dummies to go with it. Between the 2 books I am starting to understand what it is about. I don't like spices or a lot of onion so after adjusting the receipts it is not much different than what I have been eating for most my life.

Take it from someone who read it after already being vegan for a year.
It was a pretty good read. Information was easy to read and understand. Some of the information that they quoted was a little outdated, like suggesting that oil is part of a healthy diet. Really aside from that though it held a lot of useful info. The recipes were pretty good. Overall, not a bad book for a beginner.

a true reference guide
Just a wonderful guide to living vegan. Easy to find all the answers to assure my daily menu is well balanced. I use it as a reference book. Keep it in the kitchen and can find answers quickly. Bought it first as an e-book, but found it difficult to use that way. The printed version is great! I have numerous tabs on pages I frequent often. A great purchase.

Won't take advice from non vegan on vegan living
I was about to purchase this book as a beginners guide to veganism until I read that the author is not vegan. I find this very dishonest, how can I take advice about veganism from a meat eater? I have decided to spend my money and support authors that have been recommended by vegan friends. For anyone interested they are Colleen Patrick-Goudreau, Isa Chandra Moskowitz and a book called Vegan Freak.

A great aid in converting to veganism.
This is an extremely helpful book for those who wish to convert from being a vegetarian or meat eater.Information ranges from remaining healthy, facts on animal production, recipes and websites. Some of the references relate to the American market but that not a problem. The book gives helpful responses to those who challenge or question you on being a vegan. What is particulary helpful is the author doesn't pressure you but gives suggestionson converting, either it slowly or completely converting at once, supportive of both ways.An excellent book that l re read constantly.

Always an excellent review for something as forward-thinking and right
Always an excellent review for something as forward-thinking and right, good and nice, conpassionate, kind and wrapped into something like a discipline, veganism ( who would've thought not killing tasted so good!?)

Vegan For Dummies
Great! I have found this book very useful as I became a vegan 6 months ago. This book gives a lot of information on a healthy and balanced vegan diet, how to choose a vegan transformation programme that works with one's lifestyle, travel and eating out. It also deals with the social and psychological aspects of transformation. There are easy vegan recipes. Overall I have found transforming to a vegan diet very, very easy indeed. One thing to add the book is an American version.
