Q: Would this hold the ashes of a 300lb man?

I couldn't say for sure, however, when I researched it, you need a little less than 1 cubic inch of space per pound . Most urns are roughly 200 cubic inch for an adult urn. You should check with the funeral director who can better guide you. What is called a companion urn should work nicely for a 300 pound man. Sorry for your loss.

Q: Does the urn seal? Is it suitable for burial?

Yes. We are planning to use it for burial also.

Q: How tall is the urn? I have a 10" niche that it needs to fit into.

Mine is about 9 1/2 inches tall because the top is kind of rounded. It is also roughly 7 1/2 to 8 inches from side to side . It is roughly 22 inches around at the widest part. Hope this helps and sorry for your loss.

Q: Does this urn open easily for scattering ashes?

We have not scattered ashes from it. Within the urn, the ashes are contained in a ziplock bag. It is recommended to consult someone who has scattered ashes.
