This is the kind to use…
I’ve trapped bait fish and crawdads for 50 years, from the Adirondacks to the Texas coast, and this is the trap to use. The heavier black coated traps last longer and look better, but for some reason they aren’t as effective. These hold up well and last forever if you just take care of them. Dry ocean flavor cat food makes excellent bait. The clips can be a bit hard to squeeze open. Use good strong cord if you’re tossing them out into the water. Study the water to see where the minnows or small perch are schooling, and give them time to get into the trap. Be sure to keep your bait bucket aerated or in fresh water, as live bait can die quickly. On the web there are many sites on how to fish with live bait, and this trap will get you all you need.

This is a GREAT bait trap!
My boys love catching bait from the creek and bringing it back to the ponds by our home to feed the fish. These things are durable and are fantastic at catching small fish, minnows and crawfish.
