Sunpak Platinum Plus 11.5" Mini-D Tripod

I've bought this from BestBuy four years ago, for the GoPro Hero 3 at that time. Was perfect for something small, I used it as a "selfie stick" before selfie sticks came out, b/c it was light and very portable, and easy to carry in any backpack or even in my man purse. The tripod function works as any mini-tripod does. One thing is, the leg extend/retracking needs a little getting used to, b/c after you pull it out, you need to "twist" it in the "clockwise" direction in order to stabilize it. Otherwise it will fall, like some others have mentioned here.Anyhow, overall I really like it b/c I can use it as a selfie stick + as a tripod when I want to take photos on my own during business trips or travels alone.I would have given it four stars for functionality, but deducting one star b/c the one I've received from Amazon seems to be an imitation version OR the production quality declined. As the uploaded picture shows, the quality of the product has declined at all those three areas circled. Left version is the one that is shown in this website description, the right version is the one I've received.Will be expecting to return it, and hope that the vendor can send me the original quality version that I've come to really enjoy using.

The legs when extended are a little weak and retracted even after twisting it to lock them in place with the weight of my G85. That said I actually prefer the non-extended height for my camera anyways so it works well for my needs.

Good for a beginner but I will definitely have to upgrade this a little later on once I get more into photography. Will do great for my trip to Italy for a tabletop tripod.

Great quality and perfect size for desktop!

This was my second one I purchased because I gave my 1st to my son when he left for the Army. The new one is different than the one pictured as it has black, differently shaped feet. The extension of the legs feels very rough and cheap compared to my first one. I wish they would have increased the price a little and kept the quality the same. I'll probably shop for another brand of mini that I can have more confidence in with my equipment balanced on. The 1st one was great, the 2nd, not so much...

Such a great buy for the price!! I have 3 now, and they come in very handy as I'm doing stop action videos.
