Perri's Padded Leather Dog Collars in Metallic and Bold Non-Metallic Colors

This collar is really beautiful; we get a lot of compliments at the dog park. I was familiar with Perri's leather since I ride horses (they make halters, bridles, etc) and I thought I'd share some tips to help you make this collar last. This should address the negative reviews, including the colored padding peeling off.Leather used to be living skin; it no longer is of course, so since it can't be cleaned and moisturized naturally as skin is on a living cow YOU have to do that! If you don't the leather will dry out, peel, crack, rot etc. Thankfully it's not difficult or expensive to care for your leather. I highly recommend Leather CPR (available on here as well and common in tack shops/feed stores) an affordable all in one product that cleans and conditions. Use a small amount on a rag once or twice a month; wipe of any excess, don't let any product sit on the leather and cake up; you especially want to keep seams clean and gunk free or they will rot and the collar will come apart over time.If you don't want the collar to stretch, have a separate walking collar or harness. If pressure is applied to leather (ie a dog pulling) it will stretch.My dogs are tough on these collars; they swim in them, wrestle and occasionally play bite on the collars, they run through mud, etc. with maintenance they hold up well. No peeling what so ever.Did I mention they're beautiful? They look really nice. We paid the same price for a significantly less high quality collar at Petsmart that fell apart; this collar will LAST! The padding is more comfortable in the dogs neck as well.Photo shows my lab with a 14.5 inch; medium fits her well on the middle hole.

I've been reading reviews and when I received my collars for my 2 Parson Russell Terriers I was ready. First I knew there were a difference in them only because I needed 2. Individually they both looked perfect. Then came the extra long tail of leather as the dogs have 13" necks and I ordered mediums, which are 21" long. Did not take too much thinking to remember when I ordered my Fitbit watch I also ordered silicon fasteners to go around that band I knew would be long. They worked perfect and hold the leather tail close. Very happy so had to share, deb

Ordered a large for my 60lb Male Pitbull pup. He has a 17.5" neck, this collar fit perfectly for him with just enough slack left for him to potentially grow into. Over the past two years I probably spent upwards to $100 in various shoddy collars. I will just merely echo the level of quality that everybody has attributed to this collar, it's well made. I ordered the Havana Brown, and the brass is heavy and solid. The leather is stitched very well, and the texture of leather is the kind that just gets better, and better, with age. Definitely worth the $20 spent for a product manufactured here in the great U.S. of A.Update 7 Sept 2015: This collar is still as solid as the day we bought it. We did take our dog to the beach and forgot to take it off before letting him splash around. The collar got really white and dry from the salt. A little dab of leather moisturizer fixed that right up. The brass is also still a brassy color as well. A+ product folks.Update 4/12/2016: Still looks, feels, and works great. This is a very nice collar. However, the sizes are quite inconsistent, and you should be careful about who fulfills the order.I first ordered an XL for my dog with a 21" neck. It was sold by HorseLoverz.com, not Amazon, and I had to pay $5.50 for shipping (not a big deal at first). When the collar arrived, it was a very nice collar. However, even on the tightest setting, the collar that says it for dogs with 20-25" necks was still about 3" too long. I started the process to exchange it for a large. I had to pay the $8 shipping to return it. Almost two weeks later, even though it took the package only 3 days to arrive, I got an email asking me to pay another $10 to ship the size large. Needless to say, I cancelled the order and got a refund. I found a size large in one of the color options fulfilled by Amazon, and received it long before the refund process for the other collar was over.For the size large, I have to put it on the loosest setting in order for it to be comfortable on my dog, even though the next size up was way too big. However, it is a beautiful, well constructed, classic-looking collar. It irritates my dog's skin far less than the vinyl cloth-lined one he had before. It is almost worth the hassle I went through to get it.It you do order this, only order one that is fulfilled by Amazon. If not, at least don't order it from a company that thinks it's cute to use "z"s instead of "s"s. Also, be prepared to have to exchange it for a different size. I will say that if it wasn't for the sizing issues, I would have given this 5 stars. It is such a nice leather collar that I have since ordered a matching leash (of course fulfilled by Amazon) rather than continue to use the old worn out leather leash that matched his old collar.

I use the next to last smallest hole in the medium size for a Shiba Inu. A small collar would have been a bit too tight and not wide enough to comfortably house his Shiba neck rolls. I attached his dangling rabies tag to the front and his contact info tag to the side. I also added a ponytail holder to keep the extra flap down because the collar's loop is too far away to account for the smaller sizes.

The collar is just perfect. So happy with the colours and it is a lovely leather. The inside of the collar still is leather but soft and padded. My dog has had no issues with it and it makes a nice change from the fabric collar he used to have. The end of the collar is slightly long on him, so have just used a hair bobby to keep it tight in with the rest of the collar but otherwise no issues. Would highly recommend

This is a really nice collar. It is nice thick leather and has a heavy brass buckle. Unless my dog out-grows this, it should last for years and years. It is beautifully hand-made with top quality stitching and rivets. As others have said, it seems to run big. I ordered a medium, which is advertised for 12-16 inch necks. My dog has a 16 inch neck and she takes the 3rd of 6 holes in this collar. The smallest hole on this medium collar would fit a 14 inch neck and the largest would fit a 19.5 inch neck. And a nice bonus ... the leather smells wonderful! If you’re looking for a quality hand-made solid leather collar, then this is the collar for you!

I purchased this collar for my six month old retriever pup. It is a bit large (long) for him right now but I’m sure he will grow into it. I chose the black colour and it looks great against his golden coat.This is a top quality collar. It is soft and supple leather which I believe will last many years. Nice stitching and good solid buckle. I was so impressed with the collar that I also purchased the matching leash!

Looks great, very soft feel but feels solid and well made. Few people have commented on the nice aesthetics of the brown leather and brass.There is only one loop to hold the excess collar when on the smaller size, the loop wasn't adjustable to the excess collar stuck out when I had the collar fitted to my dog. I just ended up cutting the excess off so it no longer sticks out

Purchased the "Large" size for an Australian Shepherd. Aussie neck size typically measures at 17 - 19 inch so figured that this would be the right size. It fits well but for some reason has a super long end that would stick out and get in the way. We had to cut the end off. Durable quality though.

Ordered this for my puppy, and have had so many great compliments. I love this so much I ordered the larger size for when he gets bigger. Only thing they could possibly improve is to make the leash attachment a little bit bigger, when I have gloves or mittens on I have to take them off to attach the leash and hold my puppy still.

The collar itself on first view is very nice and appears to be good quality however after a month of wear, my yellow lab now has a green stain around his neck from where the green on the collar has bled into his yellow coat. I am very disappointed with this product and will have to buy him a new collar after only one month and wait for the ring to eventually wear off.

I got this collar for a Therapy Dog program, where we needed a red or black collar. It fits and seems very comfortable because it doesn't mush his fur like other ones do. It is a large size range, so the collar has a lot of extra leather on the excess. The next size down is too small. I'm sure the dog would rather be naked, but this fits the bill for us.

Very good quality, sizing chart is accurate and love the look on my dog. Can be a little difficult with long hair breads to put the collar or remove it (hair gets stuck / hides the buckle) but it gets easier with practice.

Sizing was bigger than I expected. I read the other reviews that said the size was small so I went bigger and it was way too big for my dog. It is a great coller though and my parents dog was able to use it.I ordered a large for my 40lb dog, gave it to my parents for their 70lb dog.

I liked it, but the one I got for the dogs 16 inch neck, left a lot of belt overhang. And it's brown, not black, like I thought. My fault. I returned it. But it was nice. Just not what I totally wanted.
