What a nice reel. The drag is about the same as ...
After over 50 years I finally decided to replace my Mitchell 300s. I am not sure why because they still work well. After much research I settled on this Pflueger 6935. What a nice reel. The drag is about the same as the old Mitchell, very smooth. It is a bit faster. 5.2 versus 4.3 and the bail works flawlessly. It is not noisy like the Mitchell with the clicker on. If there is one thing That I am not fond of (or maybe not used to) is the crank. This one seems to sweep a wide arc where the Mitchell does not. Also the Mitchell is orthogonal (90 degrees to the crankshaft) where this one has a big bend in the handle and is much longer. So the force may be less but the movement is greater. If you have used a Mitchell you will understand what I mean. Finallly, the Mitchell has a Tungsten line guide on the bail. Mine is still as new, smooth and never hurts the line. I used braid and there is absolutely no wear on the tungsten line guide. I don't know about this Pflueger. The guide looks like steel or carbon. We will see if it wears. I doubt I will make the next 50 with this reel. Maybe the grandkids.

These are nice smooth, dependable reels
After trying one of these I went back for a few more. I have several spinning reels from cheap junk to a shimano ci4. Actually I should say had, because for the price of these you can throw out all the junk. These are nice smooth, dependable reels. You will replace those $20-$30 reels 10x in the amount of time this one last, also it's just a more enjoyable experience casting and retrieving with a quality reel. All the sizes I've tried have seemed to be well suited to their intended purpose. The drag seems smooth and easy to set, the anti reverse seems to come on right away. So far Ive had no roughness or breakages of any kind that can happen with cheaper reels. These things really surprise for the low price. The smaller 4lb 110 yard is great on a light or ultralight for panfish or trout. The medium sizes are great on a medium light for bass. I like to pair these with the St. Croix triumph rods, you can put together a very nice combo that will last many years of fishing for about $150. Ive tried several other brands and in my opinion these are the best for the price

Thumbs Up
Just ordered my 3rd Pflueger President Size 30 (2 for me and 1 for my dad). Can NOT beat the quality and price. It's just simply the best option for someone who will go freshwater fishing on a boat about 20-30 times a year. I'm fishing in Florida for Largemouth Bass primarily. I've landed a 7lb 13oz with it no problem whatsoever. The reel is very smooth and the drag is strong. 5 stars

The reel feels nice to operate
The reel feels nice to operate. It is very smooth. The infinite reverse-lock feature took a little getting used to, but it was very handy in having drag set in when hooking larger trout. Would give it five stars except for the fact that the handle tightens into the body as if it itself is the nut on a threaded shaft. And oddly enough, turning the handle in the direction of line retrieval is the same direction that *loosens* the handle on its shaft. I didn't have the handle itself loosen up in the manner except once. Tightening down 'finger tight' is pretty much all that is needed, but it still bothers me that the handle is threaded onto its drive shaft in this manner. One other note: the little clip that is used to secure line so it doesn't unwind from the spool doesn't actually clip to hold onto the line. It applies only a friction grip which is not very secure. Otherwise, the smoothness of the reel bearings and mechanism and the sturdy construction make for a reel which I used to successfully work ~20 medium and large stream trout over the course of 3 days. :)

Passed the Drag Test
I have been using the smaller President, 6930, for about a year now and was so impressed with its performance that I picked up the larger, 6935. My plan was to give these as Christmas presents but before doing so I wanted to put the drag through it's paces so relied on the 6935 for late season catfish action, putting my Shimano Stradic in a back-up role.In one night I caught 5 catfish that ranged from 27"-31" in length, with the 31-incher being very heavily bodied. Actually they were all heavily bodied but the 31" was impressive. I was using a 8' medium light rod, with fast action (BnM "The Difference"), and 8 lb. Trilene XL so needed a reliable drag during the 20 minute fight that the 31-incher put up and the 6935 didn't let me down. Over the course of three consecutive nights I landed 9 catfish with the smallest being 26" and decided that my gift plan was a go so I have picked up 4 more 6935's since the fall, three for others and another for myself.EDIT 05/19/15: I followed thru with my "gift plan" and have been getting, unsolicited, "extra" thanks from the recipients recently, prompted by the fact that they are now using them. Even those that usually run "high end" reels are liking the President......

So far, I am impressed with this reel!
I am not an experienced fisherman by any stretch of the imagination and have typically used inexpensive spincast reels. This is my very first spinning reel and I am very pleased so far with what I have seen.It took me a while to get the proper type of rod to go with my reel because I was totally ignorant as to the different types of rods and which type was intended for spinning reels. The local sporting goods store was no help at all because they sold me the wrong type of rod for this reel and I had to do a lot of research on my own. I finally settled on an excellent Field and Stream rod and now have a really fine looking and performing rod and reel combo. I have not yet had the opportunity to actually go fishing with this reel but I did set it up and take it out in the driveway to practice casting. I wasn't sure what to expect since I knew I would need to learn how to cast this type of reel but was amazed at how far my very first cast went. It sailed so smoothly and quietly that at first I didn't even think it had cast at all. Subsequent casts have been even better and I can't wait until next weekend when I will finally get to actually go fishing with my new reel.

Always a winner.
The best reel game I’ve owned. Can’t go wrong for the price as well.

Great value for the money
Smooth clean action, fits well with the Shakespeare rod I put it on. Great value for the money, performs as well if not better than some of the other reels I have paid much more money for.
