I recently got an Akorn Kamado Grill, and the optional stone diffuser piece for it is pretty expensive. This diffuser stone is much cheaper and is just as good - it deflects heat very well, making it possible to do good slow smoking on the grill. I so far have not had any problems with it.One word of caution: Do NOT clean this stone with soap and water. Its surface is porous, so cleaning with soap will just cause soap to get into the stone, which can damage it under heat and affect the taste of your food. Carefully scrape off any excess drips, or just turn the stone over on your next cook and let them burn off.

I love making pizza on this. It is also great for heat deflection when I'm smoking ribs, wings, and pork butt. It's very durable and one of the best baking stones I have.

Heats evenly and efficiently

I love my Char-Griller Akorn Kamado style grill. The heat deflector fits the slots in the grill made for a heat deflector, allowing the heat to go around the deflector so the food would not be burned. I use this all the time except when I really want a crust on food. The deflector is essential in making pizza's in the Akorn grill. I use this deflector plus a pizza stone on top of the grill to keep the pizza bottom to burn as I get the grill up to over 700 deg F when I am grilling pizza. Even with two deflectors, this product and a pizza stone, the pizza is done in 4 minutes and the bottom is perfectly brown. I also use it to cook roasts, chicken, etc. The food comes out nicely browned and perfectly cooked, not burned on the outside and raw on the inside as I have unfortunately seen way too many times at barbecues. If you have a Kamado grill, heat deflectors like this is essential. This one is perfect for the Akorn.

Fit my Akorn grill like a glove. Nice heavy, sturdy stone. Really diffuses the heat l, which is great for slow cooking. I use a drip pan on top of the stone for collecting grease and juice - keeps it relatively clean. For the price, can’t beat it.

Most pizza accessories advertised for use with Weber Kettle grills are targeted towards the 22" Kettle. This stone/deflector combo works nicely in the 18" Kettle, as it sits right on the standard/stock grate and makes the pizza stone surface even with the Kettle's sides. So, you can use a pizza peel easily to slide a pizza on and off the stone, and it still has about 3 inches around the diameter to let heat up and around the pizza. With a full chimney of quality briquettes and a little patience, I can get the stone and surrounding air temp to around 600 degrees Fahrenheit. Takes some practice to have another person open lid slightly to quickly allow sliding a pizza in, but it works. Nice results on my first 3 pizzas... each better than the last.

Wanted to use it with my PB K22 frill but didnt span in recessed holes and at too high for grate
