Great recording
Excellent, easy transaction with this seller. This recording by Khatia Buenatishvili is a quiet, contemplative but wonderful contrast to her flashier offerings on other albums and Youtube appearances. She is sometimes criticized because she does not always play pieces in the "traditional" manner, but rather plays them as she herself feels and interprets them - sometimes ultra slowly, sometimes at a frenetic, pounding pace. (Listen to and watch her "Pictures at an Exhibition" on Youtube to hear a bit of both within the same set of pieces.) Either way, she is extremely passionate and "all in" in her playing, which is clearly seen (in concert and Youtube) and heard by the audience, but not universally praised by critics who have their own ideas of what a piece should sound like. For myself, I love the very personal interpretations, which don't have to sound like every other pianist who plays the same piece. It is amazing to watch her play with her eyes closed, hair falling over her face, but without missing a note (most of the time). But, whether slow or fast, her emotional attachment to the music is clearly on display, along with her technical virtuosity..

Extra beautiful. Marvelous artistry in excellent sound.
The only horrible review this release has gotten here pertains to the sound. I have to disagree. The sound is amazingly intimate and every note is there to be cherished. Now, as a showcase of this pianist's artistry, this is an excellent collection. If you saw KB play live (and there is plenty on YouTube) you would probably become a fan. In fact, I think it is now great times for women pianists; and it is not only their mesmerizing beauty but their technique and sensitivity. Lovely to look at, and hear... and listen, as here. There is lots of sensitive playing here, some will probably think it is too much of a good thing, but again, this goes with the performance chops of this excellent pianist. Her playing is extra-sensitive and delicate when called for, even though she seems to indulge a bit. At the end, I happen to like that. And a lot has to do with how the pieces flow: the program. As a CD collector for decades I learned to avoid recitals like this under the (pre)-judgment of commercialism. But here I made an exception, as the program looked varied and it touched on rare pieces. The inclusion of Kancheli, Ligeti and Part is a plus. Otherwise, you go through centuries of style and emotion, from Bach to Georgian folk. Ultimately, it delivers a beautiful evening of solo piano by the fireside, and a glass of good wine to enjoy.

I'm a fan of our Pianist in Motherland
It's a soothing compilation of folk music that is easy to listen to, and doesn't contain any 'heavy duty' or showy sections overall, generally depicting the class of music that would be picked up by musicians that are found anywhere in a society. It represents a simplicity of historically accurate selections put to the hands of a very talented and quite lovely in all ways pianist.

A soothing album for sore times
I hadn't heard of this pianist until recently. I am not a musician or learned into the nuance of classical piano, but I found this to be a perfect album for me to enjoy while cooking or reading or just relaxing and enjoying a glass of wine.

She is truly going to be one of the great ones. You just don’t listen to her play
Not to be missed! Khatia Buniatishvili is one of the most gifted pianists of our time. A remarkable ability to feel the music and communicate as such to the audience. For such a young pianist, she has a profound and deep understanding of the music she performs. You can feel all the greys of life, all of the nuances. She is truly going to be one of the great ones. You just don’t listen to her play, you experience it with her. Magnificent performances! And a wondrous talent! Will avidly wait for her next CD release. I have never heard anyone like her and I have been around for a long time.

Unique and outstanding
I am a big fan of Khatia, not only because of her dresses in concert and because she is cute but I like her interpretation, it is unique. And in this album, she is playing with depth and maturity which makes the listening very pleasant. Her arrangement for piano of an Aria of Bach is a first and it is beautiful. It is just too bad the first 8 tracks were recorded with not enough clarity or treble, they fixed it for the last 8. Surprising for a German Sony recording.

Khatia is the best!
I just discovered the brilliant and stunningly beautiful young Georgian virtuoso, Khatia Buniatishvili. In the process of collecting all of her music. I have fallen in love with classical music. Thank you, Khatia!

Delightfully fresh and intimate playing.
Loving this. Perfect for a quiet evening with a good book and a glass of something. The breadth of genres means it does not tire the listener, and the playing is delightful and exquisite. One has heard most of these pieces before, and yet they do seem fresh, original, and played just for you. Beautiful.

Very nice piano pieces collection.
Although a cd with many different styles it makes sense, I think, from the artist point if view when she tries to convey a mood or feeling. The only but would be that the sound of the pedal is too noticeable, but that's my taste.
