Best Cage for Conure?
We are shopping for a cage for our new green cheek conure which we will pick up in a few weeks. I wanted a cage with smaller wire spacing so the bird would be safe, but cage reviews I read left me uncertain about what size and design I should choose. After exhaustive analysis and review, I finally narrowed it down to the Prevue Madison (20”x20”x29”) and the Prevue Park Plaza (24”x20”x37”), both in coco, ordered both and then compared them side by side. I really liked the Madison since it was a bit smaller overall, had a bigger wire gauge, better color and paint, and looked to be more portable. That said, the cage didn’t have a stand and the cage base needs to be supported on a surface as large as the base of the cage since only the perimeter of the base can support that cage. The cleaning drawer pulls were also small but otherwise, the cage was of very good quality (made in USA).Then I unboxed the Park Plaza. Upon first inspection it was clear the quality was not nearly as high as the Madison. Although there were no broken wires, there were a few panels that were slightly bowed and some of the posts didn’t align well. It was easy enough to put together until we got started on the seed catcher, which took a lot of bending and cursing. I recommend you put the catcher together entirely, place it on the floor and then lift the cage over the catcher and pull the catcher up over the lower half of the cage and into the slots on the cage. The wire spacing was closer on the Park Plaza cage, which I liked, and the stainless steel bowls are better than the plastic ones on the Madison. But, the Park Plaza only shipped with one perch, where the Madison came with two. Each had pluses and minuses, so which one did we choose? It was a tough decision (since I really only want to buy one cage). I wanted to keep the Madison because it was such a well built, nice cage, but I felt cage-shamed into buying the bigger cage and kept the Park Plaza. Honestly, I think my conure would have been happy in either cage, but I think the Madison would have been more durable.

Sturdy and safe
Gorgeous cage. I don’t normally write reviews but I’m super impressed with the quality for the price. It doesn’t fold which I was looking for but the sturdiness of this one makes up for it. I’m extremely particular when it comes to cages for my babies. After one accident involving finding my beloved cockatiel dangling and screaming with his toe stuck between 2 sections of his first cheap “cockatiel cage”, I am a complete snob when it comes to cages. Their main cage is King’s Cage but I didn’t want to spend $$$$ for a second cage so they can hang out with me on the patio. Also, I needed something big enough for 6 cockatiels/budgies in case of evacuation (CA fire or earthquake) but still manageable enough to carry and put in a car. There are not weird joins or gaps for toes to get stuck in. So happy with my choice!

Great boarding/vacation cage, but damages easily in transit.
I have 3 birds and have gone through about 10 different styles of cages over the years. Powder coated, stainless steel, aluminum, etc. For what it is (lightweight small bird cage), the Prevue Madison is great, IF you get one that isn't damaged.I ordered two before Christmas because I needed to board the birds. (I would not use this as permanent housing for most birds unless they're out of the cage all the time... Not enough room.) One arrived looking like someone sat on it. The other one was in better shape, but included "upgrade" porcelain bowls. One of the porcelain bowls was smashed to pieces. I think that ceramic/porcelain is a great material and would have been easier to clean than the little plastic ones, but obviously more fragile. I'm also concerned about the weight... I don't think it could drop into the cage based on the design, but if it did it might injure the bird.I use the Madison as temporary housing for small-medium size birds (conure/caique). I like it way more than the square black Prevue parrot cage, which has 2 handles on the sides, 3 food bowls, and a removable BUT NOT SLIDE OUT wire grate. Warning about that cage: not having a slide out grate is a pain in the butt. Poo slides down the side of the bottom of the cage, gets under the plastic tray, and unless all of your perches are up really high, you can't easily lift the wire tray out to clean the nasty accumulations in the back.Pros of Madison cage:+ Removable SLIDE OUT grate (and tray)+ Lightweight+ Outside access food and water bowls+ Fairly generous size (I wouldn't use this as long term housing for a caique)+ Relatively durable design (as long as it arrives that way)+ Easy to find a table to place it on (don't need a special stand that gets discontinued by manufacturer..)Cons of Madison cage:- Prone to shipping damage- Powder coating isn't the most durable (all of them arrived with little chips where you can see the underlying metal on the top and near the door hinge)- Bars aren't the most durable (a larger bird could easily bend them)- Drop down style front door inferior to sideways door IMO- Only 2 food bowls- No handles for movingOther things to consider:* Cage doesn't have a real bottom, it's basically just a frame that the tray and the grate slide into. Doesn't really matter to me, but if transporting a bird outside in the cage, I would zip tie the grate to the cage or find other ways of securing it.* No seed guards, although I gave up on using seed guards after my first bird cage 20 years ago ( just more stuff to clean, birds have much farther flinging/pooing range anyway. Embrace other methods of floor and wall defense.)* Amazon was great about sending me replacement cages for the damaged ones, both of which arrived just fine.* No way to select if you're getting the plastic or porcelain bowls5 stars for the undamaged Madison cages, because they meet my particular purpose (boarding cage). I also have larger cages for their permanent residences, and smaller carrier cages for vehicle trips. Dang birds require 3 cages each haha.

Spacious, sturdy and easy to clean bird cage houses two cockatiels with room to stretch.
We replaced an aging plastic and wire cage with this one. We have two cockatiels living in it and they have lots of room. They are out and about during the day and go in and out for water and food, then sleep covered in the cage at night. We like how tall it is - lots of room for a cockatiel to stretch its wings which is important. We also like how sturdy it is and easy to clean with the pull out tray and grill. Much more sturdy than plastic cages. Also no assembly was required which was fabulous.

Good looking, strong and well made
This item was out of stock for a long time but was definitely worth waiting for. It came completely assembled ready to use. Mine came undamaged unlike some other reviewers. It is well made and really sturdy. I needed to bring a cockateil and canary out of the aviary for the winter as they are both getting old and needed to be in a warm room. The room is a nice shape and the birds settled in immediately without any stress. The bars are close enough together that the canary cannot escape and two sides have horizontal bars which the cockateil uses to climb. Very pleased with my purchase.

Consigliata.
