Excess rainfall and flooding problems solved
This is one of the best portable pumps I’ve used and I’ve been though several over the years. The automatic on/off feature is priceless and works incredibly well, especially if you’re using this to collect and move rain water that is unpredictable. It requires almost nothing to setup, and I can leave the house now or go out of town and know that this will provide coverage when we get heavy rains, which are so common now. I can also move it to other problem areas very easily during a rain event or depending on where my issue is. I’m close to buying another so I don’t need to move them around. Also, the casing on my pump cracked after a few uses, which was caused by damage during the shipping process. After reaching out to the manufacturer, I was contacted literally within minutes, and received a replacement pump with no question and no distraction. This is all you can ask for as these things do happen from time to time. Overall this pump works incredibly well, and only wish I would have bought it much sooner as it’s a game changer for my yard/basement issues.

marvelous little pump, so far
I was researching automatic utility pumps to move water off a mostly flat basement floor. The description of this pump sounded exactly like what I was looking for but had little history and only 1 review. I decided to take a chance anyway and I'm glad I did. I don't understand the mechanics of how it works, but it does. It senses water at a very low level, turns the pump on,pumps the water to the drain and then automaticly shuts off. It somehow, self primes and when the sensors sense water again, it turns back on. I did have to add a back flow check valve so that it didn't cycle itself too frequently but that solved the problem. I don't have a way to add a sump basin and sump pump to this area of the basement and so far this little pump works great. I've only had it a couple of months, so I can't speak to longevity, but it seems well made. The flooding of this area of our basement is only a 3 or 4 times a year problem when the really big rains come, but so far, so good. Thanks

NOT working properly MOST OF THE TIME
This seemed to be a good choice right out of the box. Pump worked well for the first couple of weeks, then it started acting up. Most of the times I'd have to go out in the rain to lift the pump out of the water, place it back - do this a few times until it would start working on its own. I checked and cleaned the pump numerous times - still - it worked whenever it felt like it. NOW, the newest issue is that it is always ON - it does not stop working even if it's bone-dry.... I had it for about 5 Months - this is not working out for me....

great pump design
So far i love this pump. I have owned a lot of pumps, but only a small few of them will pump water at very low levels. This one being one that turns on automatically when water level is about 3/8"to 1/2" of water present, but will also turn off after removing water down to 3/8" or less and stays off till water is high enough to reach sensors. They do this with two sensor probes at the bottom of pump. I have owned other pumps similar but will not stay turned off completely after pumping water away, but will cycle on and off for a few seconds every one to three minutes to check for the presents of water. So even though you don't have to worry about being there to turn it off, it will cycle on and off all the time, which not only wares it out faster, wastes electricity and sometimes is noisy in the middle of the night when everything is quiet and you are trying to sleep. I have had one issue with this pump that i think i have found a solution to. I checked in on the progress of how the pump was doing to keep my garage from flooding and noticed it turned on automatically like it was supposed to, but wasn't pumping any water out? I had used a rather long garden hose to attach to the pump which had several loops and coils which i believe caused an air lock in the hose preventing pump from priming. To fix this, all i did was, while pump was running i loosened hose connection by hand enough to release air pressure, and pump immediately started to pump water. Then i just retightened the hose connection. All was good again. Hope this helps those who are looking for a good set it and forget it pump.

Great pump for certain situations
I have a basement that takes water. There is no sump well. I needed a pump that would turn on and off automatically and one that would cycle with very shallow water. I found out that such a pump really doesn't exist except for some that are designed for pool covers. They can't handle the head pressure I needed to overcome to pump the water up from my basement to the outside. This pump does exactly that! I installed a checkvalve and I am using a garden hose as the effluent pipe. It works perfectly. The pump will turn on and prime itself in less than half an inch of water. It runs till the water level is basically zero. I love it! Now, I can leave home and not have to worry about my basement flooding and ruining my boiler.

Top cracked in shipping.
Hi Premium Pumps/ Amazon, I bought this pump for a basement flooding problem in my Mother-in-Law's house. I checked it in the kitchen sink, and it worked properly... Except for the top of the pump spewing water excessively. I found the top cracked, and the handle almost detached. It looked like it had been dropped on the top handle pretty hard. The problem is I had to leave in 2 days, and could not get a replacement. I duct taped the top best I could, and left it in place with fingers crossed. I like the pump, and it preforms as it should, but I fear the cracked top repair will not last. My Mom-in Law is not capable of taking care of the return, and it will have to wait till our next trip up. I just wanted to give you this information on our specific situation, and I believe the pump to be a good product. I did not want to give a bad evaluation, as I think it was a shipping mistake. Thanks, and I'll hope there's not any continued heavy rain to over-tax the wounded pump.Sincerely, Robert Roddy.(I live in Miami, and the pump is installed in Asheville, NC)
