Poor quality
This watch never kept the right time, and in less than a year it started to let in water. I hardly used it but when I finally went back to swimovate they said I was just outside the 12 month warranty (so tough luck! - my edit). The watch went wrong from the start and now after 13 months is completely dead with nothing displaying...It did keeps the laps though - when it worked, (although had to wait to the end of the swim to see how many)..It's not user friendly or good quality

Good, accurate, comfortable
This watch does what it says, counting the lengths in the pool perfectly. I've not tried it in open water. It's comfortable to wear, even though the plastic strap is stiff. Scrolling through the modes and menus does not seem intuitive, but OK once you get used to it. I'm a bit disappointed that the date is so prominent of the main screen, even though this is clearly shown in the pictures. I would have preferred it to be shown more discretely and the time to take up the major part of the display. Overall I'm very pleased : Good value, a good purchase.

Simple to use
Second watch after I broke first. I dont use all features but very useful just for keeping and eye on lane count and speed. Also good for sets.

Useful budget sports watch with tricky data viewing
I have used it to recordabout 400 freestyle laps of a 25m pool and it does this perfectly. The only 2 missed laps was when i was interupted mid lap by other swimmers. I gave 3 stars because recalling the data is not so good. The use of the 4 buttons could be more intuative (almost everything is done with only 2 buttons). Also the recall last session buttons does not produce results that match the last session in the log. For example last session speed was 100m in 8 seconds! (Log tells me 1min 54 which agrees with clock on wall). I teturned it and got another with same problem. In summary it is useful, but i might consider upgrading in future to one where data can be uploaded to an app. For the money it is great if you can put up with the issues retreiving the data.

The strap broke after 4 months.
This is the second Poolmate bought in a year and a half and the same thing happened the strap broke, this time in 4 months of use rendering the watch useless as the strap cannot be replaced as it is all in one with the watch.

It works really well.
I read many of the reviews before buying the black Poolmate 2. I was dubious because many of the negative opinions we so critical, mainly one star.I found the instructions clear, the watch straightforward to set up and operate, and it has provided me with exactly what I wanted i.e. a means to count laps, distance, time, and calories. I can now enjoy my regular swims and drift off into that lovely 'zone' without wondering how many laps I've done.I particularly like the efficiency detail, which uses the SWOLF concept to give an idea of well one swims. (I had to look up SWOLF).Finally, the cost: I don't exercise enough to justify the price of some of the alternatives that are available and I only wanted swim info, which is exactly what the Poolmate 2 provides. Very good.

Don't waste your time and money. Buy the Garmin Swim watch.
As a novice swimmer I bought this to keep track of my laps when at the pool as I often lose count. I looked at the Garmin Swim Watch and the Swimovate Pool Mate 2 and decided to buy this one based on the lower price.Unfortunately, once it arrived and I had tried it in the pool I was really unimpressed. It would count some of my laps, but miss loads so it was totally unreliable. Maybe if I was a pro it would have recognised all my laps but that's no good to me.I also found it quite tricky to set up and in hindsight you have to send it to the manufacturer to have the battery changed which would have been a pain.I have since sold this watch on Ebay and bought the Garmin Swim watch. Whilst it's nearly twice the price I have found that it counts my laps every time and is very easy to set up and work. The Garmin Swim watch is exactly what I was looking for and, in my opinion, is far superior to the Swimovate Pool Mate 2. Don't buy this one, spend the extra and get the Garmin, it's worth every penny.

Great Watch for Swimming
I love to swim for exercise, but I'm so out-of-shape, that swimming laps is a bit of a joke for me. Regardless, by the end of the summer, I can usually swim about 20 laps using different easy strokes with rest in between. So, why did I need a watch made for swimming? Well, to tell time while in the pool! I have used it for one summer and it is still in great shape. I also use it when working in the yard since a little sweat doesn't seem to faze it and it is a hardy watch.I will say that the menu system is a little daunting, but since I don't really use all the swimming features that it comes with it, I only have to deal with the menu system when going on/off daylight savings time. Maybe someone else can comment on the menu system for keeping up with laps, etc.
