I have several Midi cables that I have ordered for my music equipment. Most of them are not always pinned completely as you only need three pins to use midi. Unfortunately for me my use for the cable is not in the midi capacity. I use the cable to connect two devices, a Digitech Valve FX and a Digitech Control One continuous controller. They are connected by a "standard Midi" as if that were really true, all five pin MIDI cables have 5 pins, some are wired with only the inside pins, others fully wired to all pins. This cable will take care of all your needs and provide you with the peace of mind that the "Standard" implies.

5-pin midi cable but only 3 wire cable.
The outside two pins are not wired. Some midi devices work with only these 3 pins, however not all (such as mine) do not!

Please be sure to verify with the seller before you purchase.Unfortunately, I had to return this cable as only 3 pins were wired. If you look closely at the photo of the item you will see the following on the blue cardboard wrap:MIDI - Standard 3 pins wiredMIDIQ - 5 pins wiredI did not noticed these when I placed the order and based my purchase solely on the reviewers comment about all 5 pins being wired.When I received the item, the "MIDI - Standard 3 pins wired" was circled in black magic marker.Maybe both options are available. However, based on the previous reviewers comment, I didn't think that this would need to be verified.On a positive note, Amazon was AMAZING with accepting the return. I received 100% of my money back.

Excellent MIDI cable! Metal connectors with strain protection!!
These cables are excellent, and they have a soft and flexible outer covering that is sturdy but not rigid. The connectors are metal, and they have rubber or neoprene flexible pieces where the cable enters each metal connector, where the rubber or neoprene flexible pieces relieve the strain when the cable bends or whatever, thereby protecting the cable from bending at a right angle and breaking the inside wires. Both connectors are male, which is the correct configuration for interconnecting standard MIDI devices.
