EVERYBODY NEEDS A ROCK

Waste of money. The book is easily available online

LOVE love love this book and story!!! As a teacher I used the 10 Rules to make our weekly reading in grade one.There were lots of extensions from this book! Art... music... phonics...other books, science...etcEveryone searched and collected their very own rocks to bring into class. Those that couldn't find one ...looked among the collection that I provided. My classes favourite line " Always sniff a rock" followed by the line "grown-ups can't tell these things...They just can't smell as well as kids"There is not really an age limit on this book!!! Young at heart and very young alike can enjoy it!!

Granted, the two-tone illustrations from a book published in 1974 are probably not going to engage today's kids. But the text remains fantastically fresh and exciting. Read it, especially to a group of kids before going on a hunt for the perfect rocks for them. "The size must be perfect. It has to feel easy in your hand when you close your fingers over it. It has to feel jumpy in your pocket when you run. Some people touch a rock a thousand times a day. There aren't many things that feel as good as a rock--if the rock is perfect." Charming, magical, and kid-like.

Loved the story and the drawings. Loved the concept even more...everyone really does need a rock.
