Rivers West Waterproof Windproof Camouflage Fleece Hunting Gear - Frontier Jacket

This is a fantastic jacket for the money. I had it on in the rain with a mid-weight camouflage shirt and an under armour t shirt at about 45 degrees with moderate exertion and was a bit hot, though completely dry. The hood has a bill on the brim which was a plus. Wouldn't recommend for long periods of stand hunting with low mobility, but it is good as described above into the mid 30's. Not windproof but very quiet. The cuffs are a bit tight and are not adjustable (good in the rain, tight with gloves) and although the hood rolls nicely into the collar it is a little bulky when rolled up. I just leave it out. I am 5'6" and 165 lbs. I usually wear a medium although this was a bit snug and short on me. Size up for layering. Sometimes bottomland camo can appear greenish or olive making it difficult to match. This jacket is definitely brown. A really good buy. I was impressed at the functionality of this coat at this price point.

First thing I want to say is that this jacket is really comfortable and well made. The customer service at Rivers West is excellent. The jacket is very warm and kept me warm in the temp ranges that it is designed for. I did a lot of research on this jacket before I made the purchase. Most people say that it is really quiet. After using it this season, it is not what I would call a quiet jacket for deer hunting. That's the only thing keeping me from giving this five stars. If you are hunting deer at long ranges it is probably fine. Likewise, it probably works in noisy woods with the rain falling. If you are sitting in a tree stand on a calm day, this jacket is way too noisy. If the deer get close, they will hear your slightest move in this jacket.

I'm very pleased with this softshell rainproof coat. Everything from the high collar to the adjustable hood, it seems that a lot of thought went into the design. I was in the rain all day and was warm and dry. Great jacket and worth the expense.

At first my husband wasn't certain he was going to like this coat, but turns out to be one of the best I ever bought him. I bought the large and it fits slightly loose on him (5'6", 170 lbs), but he likes that in a hunting coat so he can layer. The brimmed hood was a big hit as he's always got some sort of baseball cap on and the pockets are big enough for what he likes to take along, munchies wise, for hunting (peperoni, crackers, cheese and grapes).
