Blast mode really lights up the way on winer nights out over the farm tracks, with enough battery life for a good 10 mile blast. When on the roads, the warm mode light gives plenty to see and be seen by. The low level white light LED will be great when you'e battery is almost exhausted, but with the 9 light indicator this should be a rare occurrence. A couple of things I don't like; one is to get to the flashing modes is a bit difficult and means a few seconds in total darkness (not an issue as I have a small flasher light as a back up and don't intend to use the moon for this) and the remote I think will be too difficult to use with winter gloves on as the buttons are quite close. But I think this is one of the best lights I have ever had. And at the price offered by amazon, it's a steal for the functionality it offers.

TIR lens should give enough throw without having too small hotspot, since this is not a search light the the beam should be wide and far. The lack of high CRI (colour rendering index) for more colours for eyes to work with, even high/low beam pattern (brighter at the top, dimmer closer to the ground) for avoiding the waste of light illuminating the sky and reduction of glare is the only drawback.

Update. After 18 months it died. Won't turn or or charge.Original review-Just right for road and gravel riding or woodland single track. Battery on medium light setting of about 800 lum is easily lasting 2 hours

Very bright, good for all weather, commuting and over dark trails, remote is useful.
