What an amazing rod by FullMoon outfitters! Even at 11 foot, I don’t find this rod to be “too much” for almost all rivers and streams. It has a very light tip, sensitive, and also has enough backbone to bring in big trout/ salmon. My first rod initially broke at the tip on the second eye, but it appeared to be maybe defective. FullMoon Outfitters stood by their product and sent me a replacement tip free of charge and stood by there product. Fantastic customer service. No issues since and some massive fish have been caught. I would definitely recommend this rod to anyone looking to try “Euro nymphing” or any other high stick nymphing. Even professionals can find some good use and performance in this quality budget rod!

Rod is very tip heavy, doesn’t balance well even with a 5wt reel, making fishing all day exhausting. Top guide wasn’t finished well so there’s a sharp edge where line can catch. There are spiral marks in the finish and epoxy. I know it’s not a $700 rod, but it’s not great even at this price point.

I own numerous “high end” conventional fly rods, but wanted to try euro nymphing without paying several hundred dollars for a rod. When I ordered this rod I didn’t have high expectations for fit and finish, but was pleasantly surprised when I received the rod. The tube and rod sock both have pertinent information embroidered on them. There is a hook keeper, double uplocking reel seat, quality cork grip, alignment dots on each rod section, and the guides aligned to the spine of the rod. The attention to detail was impressive. It is a very soft action rod, but it needs to be to protect tippets on short lines. Euro nymph rods aren’t designed to make long casts. As I said, I was impressed at the value.

I'm running RIO Fly Fishing Fly Line FIPS Euro Nymph Line on this and the action of this rod is VERY slow from handle to tip. Drop shot nymphing is pretty good, but it tricky to cast and (maybe it is just me) imprecise. You have to be careful with the timing of your casts or you'll magic wand your fly line and flies into your rod. When you catch a fish. it makes even small fish feel mighty. I used it to cast dry flies (which worked surprisingly well and caught a couple dozen trout, which was truly a blast! I caught fish with it drop shoting as well, but like I said, it is soft, expect a learning curve. Overall I really like the rod, but if you are used to fast action rods with lots of backbone you will need to adjust. On the other hand, I caught several very fat and hard fighting trout on 7X and didn't break them of. Trout as small as six inches were fun, so it is all about trade offs. Overall, I like it.

I am an avid fly-fisherman. I am on the water at least twice a week year round. For the price, this rod it is an excellent rod. It has great sensitivity. I use it for Euro nymphing. It is just as high quality as any other rod I have bought.

Very nice Nymph rod. Going to Canada brook trout in some some small rivers and streams. This will be the first rod I pack. Great rod at a good price. A normal person can afford. Thanks full moon Outfiters.

Beautiful rod. Got here In fine shape,, in spite of the USPS service. Hopefully it fishes as good as it looks.
