Caution, THIS PC version REQUIRES STEAM ACCOUNT TO INSTALL AND PLAY.
Great Game, but this PC version REQUIRES you have a Steam Account to play it and logged into Steam while you play! So if you DO NOT want Steam on your PC,(and many do not because it constantly eats up your internet bandwidth, slows down booting up, adds access to your PC for advertisements(like a virus)) then DO NOT Buy this version. Get the one sold at GOG.com it has no DRM or need of any internet connection to play.

Awesome Game- if you appreciate the early RPG playstyle
Thank you Larian Studios for teleporting me back to the the early days of RPGs that I grew up with..ala TSR Pool of Radiance /Neverwinter Nights/Baldurs etc. This genre hasn't had a decent offering for a long time and Divinity is certainly scratching that itch. I have played about 15 hours total and am engrossed with the story line, laughing to myself at some of the inside jokes, putting some thought into puzzles and fight strategies.Very open design for character development and progression allows you to define your roles and playstyle and even morph them as you progress. The one minor quibble I have is that the camera view is not completely free. I tend to leave the orientation alone and use the swivel feature to rotate around to get a look at things. The swivel only allows for a 90degree rotation which can make it sometimes difficult to examine every last crack and crevasse there is.

Larian built a game unplayable for casual games, if you die during the tutorial without being just plain dumb something is wrong
Monster's auto-path around environmental hazards but PC don't (not talking about running through the middle of an environmental danger, talking about *attempting* to path around it)? after looking at all the glowing reviews (with the only minus being the necessary steam connection) I purchased this game. What a mistake. I can't possibly see why this game is getting high reviews. The storylines are good as are the graphics, the environmental effects are more hinderance than help (since all enemies both outnumber you and seemingly have an infinite supply of potions, magic arrow and scrolls to pin you down and kill you). If you like to play RPG's that are punishingly difficult then this one is great for you, to me this is like a stranger walking up and kicking me in the nuts. I've been playing RPGs for 20+ years and have never had an experience of pure frustration like this (playing with a walkthrough removes most of the value of a game). This game is unplayable without a walkthrough guide. While the game NEEDS to be played in a strictly linear fashion it doesn't enforce that linearity at all the resulting frustation suggests that Larian did not playtest this game with people that weren't very familiar with it already. That might be okay if there were enough side quests and/or random encounters to level up to a survivable level... there isn't (monsters are fixed but treasure is random, and the ability to complete quests is often random (rock, paper, scissors) a recipe for disaster)... if you're not finishing every side-quest you can you're dying throughout the game (side quests are not optional, they're required, but without a walkthrough there's no way to know when they should/can be finished). There is no instruction on the leveling, if you make assumptions that are safe in every other game made in the last two decades... you've done the wrong thing. The in-combat pathing gets you killed, regularly (what?!? there was no way I was close enough to that oil/fire/ice to be effected by it while running by, whereas monsters auto-path around these environmental dangers without issue...ever). A game should be playable (and maybe difficult, but not punishingly so) without a walkthrough guide, this game is not.

Rivellon is needing you...
I was kind of skeptical about purchasing this game at first because I knew little about it other than reading an article about it in a GameInformer magazine which gave it high a 8.5 rating out of 10. I'm glad I read the article & made the decision of buying the game. It has some of the best/funnest turned based combat I've ever seen in a RPG titled game. The graphics are amazing which is a big deal for me when it comes to gaming. You can basically go wherever you want to go in the game & interact with any character you come across. The only downfall is that this is a Steam game so you must have an account in order to activate the game which is somewhat annoying & can take time to install if you don't have a fast internet connection. That's one reason I'm taking away one star. Another reason is that the story is slow to start out at first & a little frustrating, but it gets better as you go along. Other than that, this game is amazing & will bring many hours of enjoyment to anybody who loves classic RPG turned based combat.

con job requires extra downloads to run
It was supposed to be a stand alone program. Although it required connection to steam it needed to download about 6 gigs extra to run the program, which cost me about an extra$20, since I have an expensive internet connection. So for them to save $1 for an extra disk I ended up paying an extra $20. By the way the game sucked. This company made devine divinity which to me was the greatest RPG ever made, and now they have totally destroyed their reputation by putting out this crap.

Great game, has a lot of elements from different RPGs, reminds me of a more open and less repetitive version of Diablo II with, I think a better fighting system. I know a lot of people enjoy the button mash fighting, but I think this allows for a lot deeper strategy. With the right strategy I think you can beat significantly higher level enemies. Enjoy!

good
The game seems quite good so far. I've not played too far into it but visuals/style/gameplay/concepts all seem very good.Note: I don't care for Amazon's 0/5 star ratings hence, to me, 4 is normal/good, 5 is almost never... (should be 0,1,2 instead)The five stars set up expectations that everything 5 is excellent and all else is crap. Bad system...

I received the game today only to find out that it requires internet connection and free steam account to activate. Requires digital download to complete installation. Had I known this I would have never purchased the game. After reviewing steam I decided to send my unopened copy back for a refund.
