My husband has severe hearing loss due to failed attempts to reconstruct the ear after doctors removed a tumor on his eardrum. Regular hearing aids are of no help to him (besides being very expensive). He began using some devices sold in a drug store and they helped but then this one was recommended by a guy at the hearing center he went to. He has been using it over 5 years and it brought back that part of his life that we thought was lost! He is a supervisor at his work, so being able to hear correctly is essential, not to mention things like going to church and just being able to communicate with his family. Well, the original packet talker we bough 5 years ago stopped working one morning, so I ordered this one. Two days later, the old one started working again (go figure!) But we decided to keep this one as his belt clip broke off some time ago and we know that he will be needing this eventually. It isn't always ideal with the wire being in his way, but after trying jsut about every wireless device on the market under $200, this is the only thing that actually works for him!

I find the Pocketalker very helpful, at church I can hear the sermon very clear, I sit near the back.At home I don't have to sit close to the TV, I can hear from any part of the room and beyond. In shortI am very happy with the Pocketalker.

My dad is almost completely deaf and I need to talk with him about important things -- can't afford to yell and hope he understands. This unit helps. It squeals if the settings are too high and doesn't work well on the lower settings but there is a sweet spot where I can talk without raising my voice too much and he can understand me. The unit is pricey, but we're communicating so I have to say it's worth it.

it hasn't helped my mom much at all. Sometimes she can hear background noise better but not people talking. More often than not all she hears is static or squealing sound.

Does not need to be so bulky

This item arrived promptly, well packed. When several expensive hearing aids failed to help my 103 year old mother-in-law, this little device let her join group or one on one conversations. It is a VERY good product.

Sound quality is excellent and the unit is very lightweight but my Mom has a hard time keeping it on her ear (84 years old and uses oxygen)

pocket talker is excellent with mono ear bud. can hear tv at normal volume.don't have to ask for repeats. purchased mono ear bud at Walmart.wife loves it too.
