Good Block- It's supposed to be bowed
This is a good block when used as intended. The block is slightly bendable. It is intended to be bowed. If it were flat, when removing lots of material, the pressure is on the ends and the middle will not have enough pressure on it. If I check my even softer long block, which is NOT bowed, the sandpaper on the ends wears out faster than the middle. This means not enough pressure in the middle. For lighter final sanding, a softer, flat block with light pressure works good. For sanding with more pressure, this pre-bent block is the right choice. For very flat surfaces use a hard, flat blockFor final, light sanding of curved surfaces, use a soft, flat block.

Reversed bend caused more force in the center
The Sanding block is bowed up from the center. Will take time to get it straightened out. Good overall block though!

Should have had this years ago
This rigid yet flexible sanding block makes the most of your hand sanding efforts...effortlessly. If you do body work and you don't have one of these get one. I used a 120 grit paper and fixed about 50 hail dents in less than 5 hours. Sandpaper sticks very well and the end result sold me on anything else this outfit may have for body work.

Currently using on fiberglass boat, has been robust. Gets a little softer in the sun.
