I bought all the rishas that are available on Amazon: Pyramid, Zaza and Sala, I like Istanbul the best because their rishas are thinner. A thin risha gives you a cleaner smoother sound on an oud that I like, there is a slight difference in thickness between them that you might not notice at first. Most oud players seem to like thick rishas because it allows them to pluck the oud harder to get a louder sound that can be heard better when playing live. The Pyarimid and Zaza brand rishas are about the same, theyre thick and narrow rishas if you like that kind of thing. The Sala brand was interesting (I dont see them listed on Amazon anymore) in that they give very large difference in thicknesses between the rishas in their variety pack. The problem with Sala rishas are that they are made of very soft rubbery feeling plastic that has a lot of friction. The Istanbul rishas are made of harder plastic, and they have very little friction so they will not drag on the strings as much.
