Raffi's Christmas Album Remastered

One of my favorite things about Christmas is the music. Listening to the songs of the season can lift my spirits even in the heat of summer, and I even keep a separate MP3 player devoted solely to Christmas music so I can play it during the holiday season. There are a few Christmas songs that annoy me, but for the most part I love the sounds of the season.Perhaps my favorite Christmas album of all time, however, is Raffi's Christmas Album. Though primarily a children's musician, Raffi's music is suitable for all ages.Raffi's style is perhaps best described as folk music -- his songs are rarely accompanied by anything fancier than a guitar and/or piano, though occasionally other instruments such as a harmonica will be added for atmosphere. He has a pleasant but not magnificent voice, but it lends itself well to the simple style of most Christmas songs. And he includes a nice mix of songs on this album -- classic favorites, more obscure songs, and songs of his own creation.Perhaps I am a bit biased, as this was one of my favorite Christmas albums growing up. There are many fond childhood memories behind these songs, and in our family songs such as "Old Toy Trains," "On Christmas Morning," and "Douglas Mountain" are just as much holiday mainstays as "Frosty the Snowman" and "Silent Night." Being able to have these treasured songs in CD and MP3 format instead of a worn-out cassette tape is wonderful.This CD also contains something the original cassette didn't -- a bonus song titled "A Child's Gift of Love." It's just as good as the rest of the album. :)

Out of all the Christmas albums we have, this is the one my kids remember. So glad I could find it here! Thanks, Amazon!We've had this CD for about 20 years. Our 26 year old daughter was over this last Christmas making cookies, and I had this CD playing - she recently started a family of her own, and she made the comment that she would love to have this CD, she has great memories of listening to it as a child. This was three days before Christmas.... I went on Amazon immediately after she left, and ordered this with two-day shipping. Imagine her surprise when she opened it up on Christmas! Now she'll be able to share it with her kids (she said they listened to it in the car on the way home that evening...)This CD is filled with songs that young and old will all enjoy - and after only a couple of times thru, we knew all the words. Our 24 year old son is in the U.S. Army, and several years ago after he completed basic training and was getting ready to fly home for his first Christmas I sent him an email with an audio clip of "Christmas Time's A Coming, and I Know I'm Going Home" from this CD. He loved it, it brought back great memories for him. When he starts a family I'll be sure to purchase a copy for him, as well.Out of all the Christmas albums we have, this is the one my kids remember. So glad I could find it here! Thanks, Amazon!

I grew up playing this CD along with The Time-Life Treasury Of Christmas albums. This CD also means so much to me is because my dad plays guitar and always played songs for me and my siblings on it. Some of which were Raffi's songs. So, in short, this album reminds me of my father.I find this album great because it's easy to sing along to, it's upbeat, and the songs are original. Nothing over-the-top fancy. It makes it nice because some songs sound like a well prepared Christmas show that you'd hear in a school (lead by the music teacher and accompanied by more than a piano).I recommend this CD to those with kids to those who like folk music. Not all the songs have the kids singing; and there's even a song that's instrumental with some humming (Silent Night/Away In A Manger). So the album by itself doesn't feel like the same song is repeating... and if it does, I recommend to stop playing the album 30 times in a row. ;)

so...today I am decorating the tree and listening to my favorite Josh Groban's Noel and remembered having Raffi's Christmas tape when our son was a child and loving the songs more than probably he did...so reminded my husband about it and he told me to go immediately to Amazon and see if it is available on CD...hurray!!!!!! it is and I bought it and can't wait to play it again after all these years...the songs are already playing in my head and it is a wonder that I still remember them...so...in a few days he'll be on the cd player for Christmas when my 26 year old son and his girlfriend come to spend some time with us and I am sure he too will remember the funfilled and heartfelt songs of Raffi...as others mentioned, they are so unique and a joy to hear rather than the "same old, same old" Christmas music...thank you Raffi and Amazon....Merry Christmas!!!

My preschool class Christmas show

Best Children's Christmas album ever! Love some of these songs so much. Had to buy it for the younger ones now on CD. Douglass Mountain, Christmas Time's a Comin, There was a Little Baby, Must be Santa, Little Toy Trains, all lovely! If you've never heard Raffia sing, he has a distinctive voice. He writes some of his own silly songs too. I recommend checking out the other CDs or songs as well if you have preschoolers. There's an adorable song about a Corner Grocery Store, and a Baby Beluga song. Very cute.

I purchased this CD for our daughters (3 and 1) for Christmas. We have 2 other Raffi CDs which we enjoy very much. The Christmas one won't disappoint either. There are a few 'original' songs which is what I was looking for, but there are also some common carols that the girls recognize and like singing along to. The only downside to this CD is that the carols are accompanied by children singing (sometimes for half the song without Raffi singing at all). I was a little disappointed, but the girls don't care, so it shouldn't matter. I was surprised to hear 'Must be Santa' as I haven't heard that song since my childhood and I love it. Good choice to add to your children's Christmas CD collection.

We've been listening to this every Xmas since the kids were little 30-40 years ago and now they listen to it with their children. Xmas wouldn't be the same without it.

I have bought this album every time the copy has scratched. this is the 5th time since 1987. It has become the "feel good" album of the season in my house.

I bought this for my daughter, she is a teacher and loved this as a child, I thought her class may like it too, they do. Raffi has such a wonderful voice and you never get tired of these songs no matter how often you hear them.

nicht nur für Kinder! Ich kann diese CD sehr empfehlen! Mir ist es wichtig, dass Musik für Kinder nicht nur für Kinder schön klingt, sondern auch für Erwachsene - und das gelingt Raffi äußerst gut. Alle Instrumente sind echt, keine Computer-Klänge!
