Spal185-TS 185 Degree Stainless Steel Thermostat

Unfortunately have had to buy several of these. The plastic tip that contains the wires is prone to breaking and when it's on a customer's vehicle we have to replace them. It is what it is. Just wish less people used them.

None of the local car parts stores can think - they can only look up stuff by vehicle. Fits a SBC 350 engine with Edlebrock intake - all aftermarket parts on Jeep engine swap.

I had one that was supplied by a well-known wiring manufacturer (RF Wiring) and spent months with them trying to figure out the loud clicking from the relay and chattering from my fan. Finally, I figured it was just a lazy sender (Took too long to switch on and off). I ordered this one, SPAL 185-TS which you would use if you are running a 160-degree thermostat and it has been great now for over 5 years, since November 2015.The cooler your engine temperature, the less likely your engine will ping. The SPAL 185-TS turns on at 185 degrees and off at 165 degrees. So, with a 160-degree thermostat your fan isn't cycling on and off as much.

The sender is in the water neck the best spot on the car for coolant temp. The gauge which I know is accurate reads 200deg, when the sender sends ground signal. You may want to order a 165 if your ordering spal.

It does the job, quality part.

Installed as directed , did nut use tape or sealant on threads , did not turn fan on at any temperature . installed normal open switch to ground to make fan run when switch is on. wasted 39.00 dollars
