StelproASMC402 Smart Home Wi-Fi Controller Thermostat Adds Maestro Connectivity to Line Voltage Electric Baseboards, Convectors, and Fan Heaters

This is a broken product. It works great when it wants to, but it consistently gets locked up. The screen stays black and Stelpro support describes it as thermal protection, so that it doesn’t overheat and become a fire hazard.Bad news, it locks up all the time, only can resolve it by flipping the circuit breaker. I’ve tried 3 different heater circuits, all with the same issue. It’s passive thermal dissipation still isn’t good enough when installed in a drafty hallway.Good luck and best wishes to anyone that buys this product.

I purchased this and the auxiliary unit to control base board heaters. The first problem I noticed is that the weather for my house (based on location) was not accurate at all. The auxiliary unit had trouble keeping sync with this base unit. After three months this unit started to lock up and became unresponsive. Sometimes this would happen when the heat was called at 100%. The lock up prevented the thermostat from lowering the temperature at night. We would wake up to a sauna! The only way to reset this unit is to turn it off at the breaker. This unit continues to lock up and requires a circuit breaker reset every three or four days. I called tech support and got no answer. I also sent multiple emails to stelpro and received no answer. I expect so much better service from a Canadian company! I cannot continue to risk leaving a runaway thermostat in service and have replaced it with another brand which is 100% reliable (although very basic). I like the features and the programming of this unit but have found it completely unreliable and causing waste by running excessive heat outside of schedule. I highly recommend that you avoid this unit and the auxiliary units.

Setup is very easy, and connecting additional thermostats to the controller is also straightforward. The geofencing feature is pretty hit or miss, and misses often enough that I just use a programmed schedule rather than relying on geofencing. My biggest problem with these is that the ambient temperature they display isn't the real ambient temperature. They measure the temp, then use some internal algorithm to approximate the temperature in the middle of the room. In my case, the approximated temperature is a few degrees higher than the actual (measured with a thermometer). Thats easy enough to plan around, its just frustrating that the temp displayed isn't the real temp. I asked stelpro tech support to see if there was a way to turn that feature off but was told no. For a positive, the energy tracking feature is awesome, and is a lot of help in understanding my energy bill.

Was very easy to setup. Only issue we had was since it is initially setup for baseboard heaters. Our forced air heaters made a weird noise which caused us to reopen the breaker powering the heaters. We decided to try one more time and start the setup and the noise went away once we selected forced air heater. Would be nice if that was in the instructions as a warning.

The thermostat allegedly works with IFTT but there is no trace of documentation on how to set it up. Upon installation, the time on the device was 4 1/2h off, and no visible menu options on how to set it. After a week, support has still not replied, so no help to get there either.

I got this because I have a line voltage heating system, and wanted something that would be able to be a bit smarter than a timer. This thermostat works well, but has a few flaws:The only default option to control the temperature in any kind of smart way is to have it keep track of your location, and turn on the heat when you're in the vicinity of the home. However, theres other times you want to lower the temperature or turn it up, for instance, when I go to bed, I want to lower the temperature, and when I wake up, I'd like the house to already be warm.There's no default integration with Google Home.Luckily though the thermostat works well with IFTTT, and I created commands that allow me to tell Google home to change the temperature. I was also able to use IFTTT to set up rules to change the temperature based on the time of day (for when I sleep).Also, and this could be the issue of the phones, but I have an android and my wife has an iPhone, but sometimes we'll be home, but it hasn't recognized that we're there yet and still shows the mode is in away. I wish it could integrate with our other Nest products or Google products to help determine whether we're home.

This thermostat was easy to install and set up. By having the heat on only in the mornings in my bathroom, where this thermostat is, I hope to save some energy. It is also nice to be able to control the thermostat remotely over the internet.

Perfect as a hub to centralize the control of all my other Stelpro wall thermostats for non-Stelpro baseboard heaters and my Stelpro Orleans heaters with onboard thermostats. The ambient temperature reading is very accurate when placed and used correctly. The many programming features and date readings provided by this device allows me to achieve true smart home integration with line volt heating. Highly recommended!!
