Works for Small Electronics
I needed a smaller diameter solder to fix a favorite pair of headphones and perform other small electronic-related fixes, and this fit the bill. Two tips from a first-timer:1). Make sure to preheat your wires to allow for better adherence.2). Make sure you clean the original surface before soldering. While I'm sure most folks already know this and it does sound like common sense in retrospect, I thought I would save potential and fellow newbies the frustration of seeing their solder roll off the wires.

Good Solder for the Price, Thin Gauge.
I use this solder when performing repairs on electronics (mostly PC's) and it hasn't let me down yet. I use it with a run-of-the-mill 30w soldering iron (also purchased from Amazon) and achieve very satisfactory results. I most recently used it to repair the DC power jack on a customer's laptop, after they were a little too rough with it and broke 2 of the pins that connect to the motherboard. I was able to clean the area up (using American Beauty 485-8C Dri-Wick Desoldering Braid), and re-solder the jack into place. The customer's laptop now charges again and they couldn't be happier. The thin gauge of this solder makes it easy to work with, especially in tight spots or with small components.

Rip off
Considering the solder objectively, it solders awfully, like pure lead, needing insanely high temperature and is not very workable. The flux core is also pretty wimpy since I find myself having to apply extra flux before soldering. The real issue however is that they are only selling you 13g (.5oz) of solder when they advertise more than 3 times that. The packaging is purposefully large to make it look like they give you more solder. The truth is that they are simply a cheap (in multiple senses) manufacturer. Seeing other reviews I was hopeful that the amount of solder they gave you was not too skimpy, since some warned about it, but I cannot say that I am the least bit impressed by their effort. Please don't support this kind of business practice.

Weight Not As Stated
I gave this product a 3 star rating because the weight of the product, important in this case, was not as stated. The weight spec says "2 oz" but the actual weight of the solder AND spool is 1.4 oz, a significant difference. As a further indication that the spec weight is wrong, the shipping weight states "1.6 oz".As far as the solder itself goes, it seems to be of the correct diameter and seems to solder ok. I know that one reviewer thought that the size was too small but if you work on printed wiring boards with closely spaced components, small size is a must.

Poor quality solder.
I must admit I should have paid attention to the very small amount that came on the spool but the spool weighs more than the solder! VERY pricey for the amount you receive and there's far better deals on Amazon for this same size.Pros: small diameterCons: Doesn't solder well. Very dingy after cooldown, not "polished" looking as other solder. Doesn't pool well and surprisingly won't stay liquid even a few mm away from the tip! I have .030 diameter solder that stays pooled for as long as I hold the tip to the contact.Very strange acting solder.Lastly the spool has two separate labels and spool inserts. Not a big deal but it's just rebranding one Chinese solder to another Chinese brand. The worst part is you must remove these two bands, THEN, remove yet a large piece of poor quality "scotch" type tape that is stuck to the actual solder only to find the tape has left sticky adhesive all over the solder. So subtract that length from the small amount you get and it's even less.

I ordered this item for small electronics
This solder is perfect for small electronics and especially SMDs. The flux works well and doesn't leave extra flux where you don't want it. Much better than the 1.3 mm stuff I've been trying to use which is 60% lead and 40% tin and leaves flux all over the place.

Narrow but works
I expected this to be a little thicker but it does the trick just fine. No fault of the product that I expected it to be thicker I'd just visualized it incorrectly. I've used it twice, not being overly familiar with soldering i'm uncertain if the solder should stick better than it does but after a few attempts it seems to have taken hold.

Not worth it.
I got this today and there is almost nothing on it (only 1.1oz including the spool vs the advertised 2oz). It will probably last 2 small projects at most. For the price (and considering the picture) was expecting a roll that was had at least 2 layers. (I avoided the $$$$ rolls as I simply don't need that much). In my view this product is not as advertised and also performs badly.
