Stanley 010073 Folding Pocket Knife with Wooden Handle

So prior to this I had been using the Rolson tradesman knife with two blades but I bought this on a whim since it would get some use and looked a bit less like the kind of thing that encourages the one guy at work who plays too much airsoft and wants to schedule RVs to talk to you. While that knife was good in most social situations, this one has more class and less flash, meaning I've been accepted to several golf clubs during dinner parties lately.It's well made, seems to be able to take a knock and while the blade does have some slop in it I don't think that affects using it, the blade still goes where it's supposed to, I use it for slicing up packing materials, marking for cuts and slicing tiny pieces of pickle to hide in my coworkers sandwiches.The clip is great on this, it holds on well but it's also flared out just right so you can actually put it back with one hand instead of holding out your pocket or belt to let it grab it. The release mechanism caught me out once because my previous knife released with a press of the little knob on the knife, so you get used to putting your thumb on top, hasn't happened since.Overall if you're looking for an upgrade from an old stanley knife, this holds the blade with the same little jiggle of slop and it's much comfier to use.

Love this Stanley. Perfect size and very useful clip to keep close by. Easy opening and close and very sharp. I like the feel of the knife and the wooden handle is a very nice touch. Well worth the money.

I have used Stanley knives for many years for DIY cutting purposes.I find that the ones with retractable blades are OK but do not feel confident about their safety when you put them in and out of your pocket in between consecutive cuts.This knife has at least three advantages over fixed or retractable bladed tools.1. You can change the blade in seconds without needing another tool such as a screwdriver.2. The blade folds securely into the handle when not in use making it safe to put in your pocket when not in use.3. The knife is so well made that the blade does not wobble when in use.

Very nice knife. I have this, and the similar CK 954.Feels well made. The wooden handle is a nice touch, although it may not last in hard use.The blade holder has two prongs, one either side, perhaps to help with one-handed opening. However they also do a good job of sticking in you if you have it in your pocket.The blade release is exactly where your thumb wants to rest, in use, which isn't ideal. The CK 954, in contrast, has a thumb stop here, and the blade release nearer the tip.The CK also locks closed, which this Stanley doesn't. I like that feature, so that's a shame. The Stanley locks open, with a metal bar that needs to be pushed aside in order to close it.Blades wobble, but that's normal for this type of knife, sadly. The CK is no better.The Stanley is able to accept longer blades, like the concave 11-592, and still close - the CK can't close with this blade fitted.Very happy with it.As the knife locks open, it may not be legal to carry it in public in the UK.

Once i had it, few co workers came up to me and ask to get one for them, the funny part was they were spent years without realizing that stanley knife excisted. Easy to use, got a nice grip with and without gloves. Cut easily but becareful not to push it to hard, it can cuts. And final last, make sure not to lose it, it happens so many times i kept lossing it somewhere but dont worry, in the end you always find it. Great knife and right on time!

Great looking tool. Love the handle, easy to change blades and handy clip to secure on tThe pocket of the trousers. Slightly stiffness on the secure close mechanism but working very well after a few open/close.

Usually buy tools that are practical but I bought this for its looks. I love it, it is a really good balanced knife. Easy to change blade, safely. The plastic blade protector only lasted 2 weeks but that was 2weeks longer than I expected but to be honest when knife folded the blade is enclosed anyway.Will buy another, one for best and a work tool.

Ein sehr gut verarbeitetes Cuttermesser in schicker Optik. Die Lieferung ging wie gewohnt rasch und die Freude über das sehr gut verarbeitete Messer war groß und ist es heute noch. Der Schnellverschluss für de Klinge ist soll de verarbeitet und leiert nicht aus wie bei anderen Produkten. Er hält die Klinge an Ort und Stelle genau wie es sein soll! Der Holzgriff sieht edel aus und ist sehr stabil. Ich bin voll zufrieden und würde wieder kaufen!!

Elegí este cutter como regalo para el día del padre, calculé que con envío normal llegaría a tiempo, no fue así... al valorar negativamente el envío ya que el producto no lo podía evaluar, me contactó el proveedor para proponerme el re-envío sin coste de otro cuter enviado esta vez por servicio de mensajería pagado por ellos. Finalmente del 18/03/15 que debía de haber llegado, llegó hoy 6/04/15. El cuter tiene una calidad excepcional en acabados, es ergonómico y el seguro de la hoja es de fácil uso con una sola mano, el seguro de cambio de la hoja se siente un tanto frágil, pero eso lo dirá el uso, de momento el cuter es muy bueno.

The tool is very well made and feels good in the hand, and is much more portable than the fixed blade variety. The only downside is that the blade is not a tight fit in its holder and would tend to wobble a little.
