Stedman's Medical Dictionary for the Health Professions and Nursing, Illustrated, 6th Edition

I like the font and style of the type in this dictionary. It is big enough to read without a magnifying glass like some others. There is an abundance of drawings and illustrations, as well as color photos. It is only 6 inches wide, but it is 3 inches thick. It's heavy. It comes with a bonus CD-ROM so you can listen to the pronunciation if that is important.My only complaint with the book is the binding. Perhaps because it IS so heavy, the back damaged after very little use. The cover separated from the first several pages. Corners and edges of the cover quickly crushed & wrinkled.All in all, the contents are great...but the binding could have been better quality.

I love this book!!!! It`s a fantastic reference for bio-science classes (human bio, anatomy & physio), emt or nursing classes. I`ve been using it for pre-nursing classes and as a reference tool to learn more about medical sciences. It`s a heavy book so I wouldn`t recommend taking it with you to every class, but just using it during study sessions and homework. There are numerous full colour photos for various diseases, infections, embryo stages, and the human body systems, as well as a large section in the back detailing medical prefixes/suffixes, medical abbreviations & acronyms, Latin root definitions, nursing diagnosis for common health problems & a spanish-english phrases section. Cannot say enough great things about the book!! I highly recommend it for individuals going into the medical field.

Stedman's Medical Dictionary is filled with 1696 pages of concise definitions and wonderful color pictures and graphs. It also contains an extra 589 pages of Appendices: Units of Measure, Affixes, Abbreviations, and Symbols; Physical Terminology; Infection Control; Reference Values; Body Mass and Surface Calculations; Assessment and Care; Drug Information; Diet and Nutrition; Professional Information. It also contains a CD-ROM with Audio Pronunciations for more than 48,000 terms; Anatomical animations; and a Medical/Pharmaceutical Spellchecker. Any person in the medical field would be well armed with this excellent, informative book. The price is very low for the amount of information contained.

I like it! I don't have 13 words to say & I don't see why its mandatory to have a lot to say about MY purchases ~ either I like it or don't like it ~ why do I have to write a book? why don't you simply put a brief description in the headliner or summary ~ you should be trying to make it easier for clients to want to leave feedback ~ this is to much work!

I received my book in a timely manner just like it was promised. I'm am quite happy with my purchase. It will be a valuable tool for my studies in college where I use medical terms and anatomy. Thanks so much for the great book & I would highly recommend this to anyone going into the medical field. Also they have great diagrams and pictures for explanation. Thanks again.

My review is not based on a comparison of other medical dictionaries. With that in mind, this particular dictionary (book) is easy to read, has good illustrations, and about 30 pages of excellent human anatomy diagrams in the middle of the book. The CD is, as stated, a bonus; have not found a need to use it, but good to have. What I do not like about this "book," is that it was printed as a short, thick book. It would have been better to have a wider/thinner book, rather than a short/thick book; the illustrations wouldn't be so small otherwise. Finally, I like that the dictionary has ABC tabs to make finding a word quick and easy.
