Used in a brand name 407 filter to clean a turtle tank.If you don't mind cutting your own pieces and storing the excess from the roll for future cleanings then it's perfect. Cost effective, spend five minutes or less to cut out the filter with a sharp pair of scissors and have years worth of replacement filters for half the cost for a single replacement brand name filter.I'll go through the claims the company made and how I feel about them.The medium does its job it filters the larger particles in my indoor turtle tank and allows for good water flow. I have not had issues with dye or any signs of stress since changing to this media. With a turtle tank you're not going to wash the media. I just cut a new piece or used a piece I already had cut. There has been no noticeable stress on my equipment.I saw some reviews stating the medium is coarse. It's coarse as the fibers define it. I'd say it's a coarser version of a furnace filter. Turtles poop a lot and for that purpose it works greats. I go from this to some bio media to carbon filters and polishing pads

I thought I was ordering a pond filter pad. This is meant for aquariums instead. Way too thin and not much of it for pond filter. Otherwise it would be fine.

I have this in my custom filter. I have a three gallon tank I am using as a filter. About 3/4 of the tank is filled with cut pieces of this foam. After a few months it turns brown with algae.I believe it works well. This keeps a colony of bacteria to detoxify the water. ( converting food into ammonia --> nitrite --> nitrate )I have measured zero ammonia, zero nitrite, zero nitrate.

Couldn't find this in any of the local fish stores. Custom cut it to fit my diy 5 gal bucket filter. Follows pea gravel, precedes micro filtration. Stays firm enough to make hosing off easy. Pretty pleased so far.

I liked everything about this product nice and thick made with good material and I cut my own pads to what I need for my canaster filter no more paying crazy $$ for the pre cut fitted pads wow I'm saving a decent amount of money.trust me I'm one of those people who are always complaining and never Happy very hard to please and this product makes me happy I'm definitely buying this again.

We got tired of buying the specially made filters for our dog's fountain water bowls so looked for an less expensive alternative. This works so much better than the made for filters, helps keep the filter pump cleaner too. Just have to cut it to the desired size. Will buy again.
