27" Caldwell Series 300 5/8" Channel Block & Tackle Window Balance - Stamp 26-4

Easy to install and works great.

My vinyl sliding window broke and some string hung down the side. It fell heavily on one side while the other seemed ok. I was just glad I could close it again and lock it. I thought I would need to have it replaced. A quick search on YouTube showed that the problem was likely the window balancer and that they can be replaced easily. Removed the old balancer, looked at the part number, matched it up here on Amazon (the numbering format won't be exact match but the digits will be the same) and found this replacement part that comes complete unlike several others that require you install the plastic ends with rivets (why would they do that?). This one came complete and installation literally took 10 minutes or less. I replaced both to ensure they would operate evenly and now my window works better than new, no exaggeration. I am considering replacing other still functional window balancers in my house with these which make opening and closing the window smooth and easy to close. These shipped quickly and were well packaged. GREAT product.

Does the job.

I was having a hard time finding window balances to replace the old, stiff ones on several of our windows. I was starting to think that we were going to have to replace the whole window, but I finally got smart and typed the markings on the old ones into the Amazon search bar and there they were! In a short time, for a very reasonable price, I now have a window that is very smooth and easy to raise and lower. They were very easy to install (after checking out YouTube) and there is no problem with the window drifting down as someone else experienced. Now that I know that they're exactly what I need, I've ordered more to fix more windows.

I got a pair to replace the "legacy" window balances (one of them had the string broken). I forgot to check the proper replacement details (I missed the fact that I also needed the winged ones), but nevertheless, they fit and work the same way as the old ones, only better! Although the specs say they are the same, the effort to slide the window is way less than before. I hope that they will last more than the 'legacy' ones. The window opens/closes an avg of 3 times a day/every day. Word of caution: when you install them, don't exercise the same amount of force like before :) For me, it requires less force to slide the window. I highly recommend these balances and do check about the details on your existing balances before ordering. Happy customer and will update if/when there's an issue. I will most likely order another pair to replace the balances for another window that give me a hard time to open/close.
