Very accurate and super sensitive.
I tested it on my 3/4" thick oak dining table. I set the meter to oak and scanned it. 10.5% @ 3/4" setting. Then I placed my palm under the table and scanned again. 11.2%. It actually could sense my hand.Easy to use, great instructions.

Nice moisture meter
Wow, this thing really works. I use it in my home workshop and take it with me when I purchase lumber. I mostly buy 6/4 to 10/4 lumber, so I really like the 3/4" reading. It certainly isn't inexpensive, but then it isn't cheaply made. I hope it last for many years. The one negative is that you have to retain the wood chart. I just fold it up and put it in the case with the meter.

Nice Meter for woodworker. Easy to use, right out of the box.
I’ve been air drying (2 yrs) some white oak slabs, about 2 inches thick. Didn’t know if I should trust my pin type meter, so I tried this one. I set it to White Oak, 3/4 deep, and took readings between 9% and 11%. That’s about right for air drying in New England. With a kiln, I could finish drying to the recommend 6%, but I’m gonna go ahead and mill it as is. This meter was easy to use right out of the box, and gave me confidence to proceed with this batch of boards we worked so hard to (chainsaw) mill.

Awsome!!!
I started milling Iowa hardwood lumber last year. I have been metering the moisture in the boards that I have been drying, and this thing is unbelievable. It reads moisture in my boards so that I can tell when they were milled. The boards from my first log milled in June 2013 was a White Ash and the moisture reads right at 8%. The Walnut boards that I milled 2 weeks later reads 8.1%. Oak, Hickory, and Cherry - they all measure moisture according to the order they were cut. All boards from each stack measure consistently - I do rotate board stacks often, so they should dry evenly. A small piece of White Ash board that has been on my fireplace mantle for months reads 4.9%. I have used in sub zero temperatures and brought boards inside to warm up and re-measured with little or no difference. I actually can not verify the accuracy, but the consistency is just perfect, so I would guess that it is also quite accurate. I have used for a month or so and have metered hundreds of boards - nothing negative at all about this product. I Love It!

Great unit but a bit pricey
I purchased this unit about a month ago and have had some time to use. It is very easy to use. All you have to do is set the depth and code number of the type of wood you are checking, place the unit on the wood and it will tell you the moisture content. There are two depth settings 1/4 and 3/4. The code number comes from a nice laminated card that comes with the unit . I have tested hickory, oak, cherry and walnut. The results have been very consistent. The unit works very well. The only negative is the price and this is the reason I gave it a 4 stars

work great, good price
so far so good.i used to have a $400 wagner that measure from 5-30. it works fine until my windshield got smashed in and took it away.i bought this one because it was a little cheeper and it was a new company. a little skeptical at first, but it works fine.it reads fine. i mostly used it for hardwood like oaks and maples and this is more than perfect for the job.the quality of the hardware just feels a little cheep for a product made in the us, but then again. the price was quite right.i would recommend this to contractors, it takes the guest work out of any moisture reading situation.

Excellent Value
I am a woodworker who has many board feet of various species that have been air drying, some as long as 15+ years. Accurate moisture content is critical in furniture construction. Lignomat has an excellent reputation for quality and that coupled with a competitive price makes this a great value. It is easy to read and use and I am confident it is accurate.
