Okay quality, but great value
If I were reviewing this based on value (quality for the price) I'd probably give it 4 or 4.5 stars. It is just so damn cheap, and very good for the price. Overall, though, there are some issues. It isn't really fair to give this five stars, and give a $50 DMM also five stars. It works great and has plenty of features. It isn't auto-ranging, but for the price I wouldn't expect it. It also doesn't measure cap, and I wish it did. Seems accurate enough, though I can't tell without comparing it to a known accurate alternative. It is pretty big and heavy, which is good and bad. A nice rubber bumper protects it in falls. It is a little big to comfortably fit in my electronics box compartments though. The hard plastic end of the leads totally detached from the rest of the cable after a few weeks of very light use. Both of them. There was no hard tug, or any signs of breakage. They just... came off. A cluster of multistranded wire sat exposed on the end of the wire.I pushed the ends back onto the wire and held it in place with hot glue. It works.I bought a fancy set of new leads with various tips here on Amazon (gator clips, minigrabbers and banana plug) to replace the broken leads since I meant to buy new leads. In fact, you should buy new leads anyway, even if these don't break. Very useful.Three stars for lacking some features, but still a very good buy. I bought it before I knew I'd be serious about electronics. If you need one just for around the house, buy this one. It is more than good enough and so cheap as to be an impulse buy. If you are serious about electronics, pick up something a bit higher end.

Alright for the noob on a budget
Let me preface by saying that I have never used nor owned a multimeter before. I am experimenting and learning. It arrived cleanly in the box. The unit itself already had the battery installed and then was covered in an orange protective shockproof case. I removed the unit from the case to feel how it was constructed. I feel like it is a few good drops away from breaking so try not to throw it around. The case feels intact and not easily separated by hand. The orange case is nice and has a kickstand to prop the device up which works well. The unit starts right up and has a nice backlight, which I wished would stay on until deactivated. The probes feel really cheap at the connection point to the unit. I feel that I can damage them really easy.I tested the unit using known voltage of various new batteries. It read accurately for all of them.I cannot attest to how it works in other situations. Maybe I can write a more indepth review once I get some more experience with it. So far:It's worth what I paid for it. At this time I would recommend it. I give it 4 stars for something I expect in this price range. If it cost more than $25 It would get 2 stars.

Fantastic Multimeter for the price.
I purchased an extra set of wires listening to the reviews on here and the wires lasted me 4 months of daily heavy use before I finally broke the ground wire. Here's the problem, the cap is not glued in place and when you wedge it in something tight and it grabs hold of the tip it pulls the tip right out. They also glue the wire in place on just one end so when the tip comes out the wire pulls off. The repair took me less than two minuites. I simply cut the wire back and tinned it. I then cleaned the glue and soldered the wires on. Then I glued the cap in place and back to work. If you pull the tip when you first get it and glue it in place and you will get years of service from it. It's pretty accurate and has a backlight. My coworker has a $100 meter and I checked mine with his and we were getting basically the same readings. I am only giving it four stars because of the wire but it's truly minimal.

This made it useless for setting the timing on a points ignition
Worked okay for a while. The audible continuity tester has always had an irritatingly long delay. Even when tapping the probes directly together, you have to wait a couple seconds before the buzzer sounds. This made it useless for setting the timing on a points ignition, something I loved using my old multimeter for.Anyway it's now getting less and less reliable to the point I can't trust it to diagnose problems. The backlight failed a long time ago. Now I'll measure a known, regulated 12V source and it'll fluctuate wildly between 16 and -5 volts. Sometimes it'll maintain a strange voltage reading when I remove the probes without activating the hold button. I need to diagnose a rectifier to see if it's over-charging a battery and it's going to be impossible until I get a new multimeter. All that said, it did provide service for a year or two. Casual users will probably have their needs met, but consider other options if you plan to use it often.

NICE if you need to save some money
this is a nice Voltmeter.. now when i got this i didn't know anything about voltmeter.. apparently less clicky settings is better then more clicky settings.. kind of takes the guess out of the "which setting do i put in".. again i might be wrong but i had to read a lot to be able to put in just to check voltage of a furnace.. in the end its nice voltmeter because it lights up it does what it suppose to and it comes with battery what else can you ask for..it has nice set of directions.. who reads them.. but if you need a voltmeter.. and in a budget this is nice to get..
