Great book
Granddaughter (10 years old) read it the first day. She was so funny about it, she wouldn't let her dad read it, LOL.

Books for my granddaughters
I gave each of my twin granddaughters a copy of this book as a gift for their 11th birthday. I am quite a distance away from them and have not heard if they have read or enjoyed their books. I was with them when they opened their gift and one did say she had seen this book at the book store and wanted it. I bought the books based on other reviews and browsed through it - seemed to me it was appropriate for this age or even younger.

A great read for little girls
I bought this book for my 7 year old daughter. I expect it to "grow with her". There are some really cool topics in there for girls. Some she does and doesn't understand (yet). I recommend this for any little girl. I bought the "boy" version for my son when he was about 10.

Great tween gift
Gift for my 11 year old granddaughter. She had her nose in it for days and has taken ideas and thoughts from the book. She thinks its a special book (it is) plus it is Mom and Gramma approved.

Great "Coming of Age" Book for Girls.
My daughter is enjoying this book so far. I read through a few pages and I think this is a great "coming to age" book for girls. Not much different than another one I got her with same topic material, so not one of a kind, but a good one overall.

Bought this for my 11 yr old niece for Christmas...she LOVES it
The book touches on such a wide variety of topics, it's hard for someone not to find something of interest! My niece has not put this book down since she opened it ( a couple of days early). From the game suggestions, to the great women of history, she is learning something new each day. I highly recommend this for ANY pre-teen to tween!

Not for young girls
Amazon rejected my first review, I guess I'm not allowed to say what I really think about a product without being censored. I did NOT use any profanity or promote anything. Nor did I attempt to manipulate others views on this book, influence anyone or accuse the seller of anything. So my 10 year old grand daughter came up to be and asked could be buy a OUIJA Board. I was like WHAT? She said she read about how to use one in the book I gave her for Christmas. I was, shocked to say the least.I didn't read this book, when I first bought it, I took the name at face value. A book for girls. My 10 year old, she's a girl. But this book, is NOT for girls. Its for adults. It has some interesting subjects, but to me, many of them have no place in a book for girls, which as the term implies, are CHILDREN.Here are a few reasons I think this book should not be given to ANY child.Teaching how to play Truth or Dare?Included in the dares are :Blow in someones earKiss your stuffed animalSuck your thumb and cry like a babyPut an icecube down your shirt until it meltsLick your own kneeKiss your own foot Its definately not something I would teach them or have someone teach them.Dream Interpertation inside a book for Girls? Now she thinks every dream she has is either going to come true, means something.I don't know what this person is thinking, but I can tell you, it is definately NOT something I wanted my 10 year old grand daughter to be reading. But now if I take it from her, I'm just like the book burners from the old days that tried to suppress books they didn't approve of.Since the book cannot be read before being bought, I had NO idea these things were in this book. And this is just the tip of the Iceberg. I'm not religous, and I read horror novels, watch scary movies, and so on. But MANY of the things in this book are not appropiate for young girls. Most of the things in this book are not even GIRL related in any way other than they relate to stories from our childhoods. Like most parents/guardians, I care about what the children read, it can actually form how they think and how they grow up, what kind of a person they become as an adult. As well, the "girl" related topics in this book almost seem thrown in as an afterthough, having small chapters. Try reading the section titled Fortune Telling 101. Its 18 pages long, from 8 ball responses to make your own fortune cookies, with subtitles such as "Lucky Charms, Make a Wish,WOW WOW OUIJA Board,Tarot Cards,Runes,Tea Leaves, Crystal Ball, Light as a feather, Stiff as a Board", and more.Light as a feather stiff as a board? Young minds are very impressionable, and giving them something to read that contains subjects concerning things like this is misleading. This book is not something healthy with good advice for young girls.
