I tested this thermometer in a chicken with a pop-up timer in it. They practically went off at the same time! I see nothing but perfectly cooked meats in my future!

All I wanted was some way to estimate whether I've cooked food thoroughly. This inexpensive thermometer was just what I needed.The numbers are large and highly visible. The use is simple - insert the probe into the food and check the reading. There are two readings - one is the desired temperature, the other is the actual temperature. When the actual temperature reaches or exceeds the desired one, the device beeps to let you know. Very convenient.To use this, you must move a switch to the 'ON' position. Then you can make your measurements. Since the device had been fully off, you always start with your temperatures in metric - Celsius. It is easy enough to switch to Fahrenheit, but it's a slight inconvenience.Overall, this little thermometer is a useful tool for the kitchen.

accurte easy to use probe long enough to check in oven so I don' t have to take food out I who is not tech smart can use it by myself it replace one that my daughter left out in the rain the ad said water proof but instruction said not. good buy for price will buy again if she does it again

Would this be better if it was Bluetooth? Yes. Does Bluetooth sometimes suck and make you wish you had a cable? Yes! This is the old reliable and it makes cooking my steaks in cast iron/ finished in the oven a piece of cake. They are perfect every time and I love this thing. Worth every dime!

What i was expecting to get.

This does not show accurate temperature. The tip inserted in the food should be where the sensor is but this apparently senses temperature all over the rod. As a result, the temperature displayed is the oven temperature and not the food temperature.There was a note in the box to send an email for feedback which I did but not nobody responded and hence I have to send this review. Would not recommend this to anyone. Bad product and bad service. Wasted my money as it is useless.

When the thermometer arrived, the first thing I did was boil some water to verify the meter's accuracy. I was surprized to see the meter give a reading of 209°F instead of 212°F. But then I though I'd better check on my home's elevation, which turned out to be 1171' above Sea Level. Plugging this number into an Internet "Water Boiling Point vs. Elevation Calculator" showed that at my elevation, water boils at 209.9°. So this eased that concern. Next, I was a bit concerned about the loudness of the Alarm, but it seems to be loud enough to be used inside my kitchen without worry that I'll not hear it. My only gripe about the meter is the lack of a setting that remembers the selection of Fahrenheit or Celcius. Every time I turn the meter back on, I have to re-select the Fahrenheit setting.

I checked the accuracy against my glass mercury darkroom thermometer and it is exactly right. I had the same unit for many years but had to replace it when the probe stopped working. It's flexible cord gets easily twisted and eventually will fail. It could be a bit more robust but every other brand does the same thing. If this one stops working I will buy it again.
