Mishima Reserve American Wagyu Beef 5-Star Cap of Ribeye Steak comes from deconstructing the traditional Ribeye to isolate the flavor curve that forms the cap, and trimmed of excess fat. It is an incomparably indulgent cut of extremely tender beef when ranked for richness, volume of juice, and overall beefy flavor. Sold as a 4-pack. 5-Star - This beef is perhaps the perfect level of indulgence for the steak lover who is looking for extra richness, but still wants a traditional beef eating experience. It contains more marbling than our 4-Star and is noticeably softer, and as you’d expect, tastes amazing. The first thing you notice about Mishima Reserve American Wagyu Beef is the abundance of intricate marbling throughout the meat. But that's just one visible characteristic and source of flavor. Equally important are the texture, tenderness, and density of the beef, all of which are inherently superior qualities of our beef. Mishima Reserve beef contains half the saturated fat and twice the mono unsaturated fat - a lighter, sweeter, healthier fat - than other breeds. They also have higher levels of healthy omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids.

Great value wagyu
I've tried a number of Mishima Reserve's steaks and they're all excellent. But when it comes to value I love what they refer to as "butchers cuts", of which the zabuton is a member. Sometimes called a Denver steak, this cut is well-marbled and beefy while still being lean. It's easy to prepare, and because it's a tender cut it's also forgiving. While quality is important I'm also interested in a brand that aligns with my values and Mishima Reserve ticks that box too. The animals are raised in a humane way, and the packaging is green. The insulation that comes in the box it's shipped in isn't just compostable, it's actually water-soluble (making for a fun science experiment if you've got a 5-year old at home like I do).Wagyu can be intimidating when it comes at a price north of $60/lb so in that sense the zabuton is a good entry level wagyu steak that will not disappoint.
