Good Books for the Seasoned Internalist
My name is Jonathan Bluestein. I am a martial arts teacher and author hailing from Israel. I practice and teach the traditional Chinese martial arts of Xing Yi Quan, Pigua Zhang and Jook Lum Southern Mantis.I would like to wholeheartedly recommend here the works by Mr. Diepersloot. He deserves more recognition than he had thus far received for his contributions to martial arts literature. These three books concern the study and practice of the Chinese internal martial arts. They reflect the personal journey of Mr. Diepersloot as a practitioner, and his evolved understanding through the years of the wonderful traditions he had studied. The works at hand go deeper and push further than most other works concerning the internal martial arts. It is for this reason that I have opted to reference them several times in my own treatise, Research of Martial Arts. The main downside of these books is that they are a bit disorderly and chaotic at times. In being so, they make for an easier read by seasoned practitioners of the internal arts, relative to other martial artists. But this minor problem is essentially null when considering the breadth, scope and vision behind these fine books, the likes of which are exceedingly hard to find. That being said, all avid internalists owe it to themselves to give these lovely works a try. Wherein you are not inclined to read all three, at least look into the third and last volume, which is the best among them.
