This things is awesome!
I love this thing and it has saved me so much time dealing with receipts that I get to take naps more often lol.We had been using an HP Wireless Printer/Scanner combination, but it's a heap of junk and you'd have to re-sync it to the computer every single time you wanted to use it because for some reason when the printer goes to sleep it messes up the connection and the information needed to stay connected. I was given the ok to spend about $40 on a receipt scanner with the boss wanting it to be able to scan normal size pages as well. Tough to find in that price range and this was almost my only option which made me leery about the function of it. Once it got here I sat it on top of my PC, installed software, plugged it in, etc. Hit the power button and put a receipt up to the feeder area and it "grabbed" enough of it to keep it in place so that I could let go, which was a pleasant surprise. Scanned the receipt flawlessly and with the packaged software I was even able to add notes to the receipt, "fix" bad areas of the receipt, etc.Don't waste money on a smaller more expensive model when you can have everything that one of these offers and then some for half, or much more in some cases, the price. Also, it will turn itself off after X minutes of non use. Just push the power button and it lights up and within seconds you're ready to start scanning. Being directly plugged in we no longer have any problems keeping our expenses on file as they occur rather than waiting for days to acquire several before having to re-sync equipment and do them all at once on an old and outdated piece of...equipment.

- Quality doesn't seem great for photos or reference quality
Exactly what I wanted. It's lightweight, USB powered, and fast.I mostly use this for paper invoices that I get at work, which is maybe 1 a week and after upgrading to a laser printer, I don't have the all-in-one taking up space anymore.I'm using a Mac and the built-in scanner functionality in System Preferences. I installed the software from the website, but haven't used it.Everything works seamlessly for me. First thing I realized was I had to turn it on. Other than that no issues with the device.Only reasons not 5 stars:- Quality doesn't seem great for photos or reference quality. There are occasionally smears or lines, as associated with copy machine quality devices. For this purpose, it doesn't matter, but I couldn't use it to scan images to be used for print. It's really just for text etc.- When you want to start a document it has to grab it. You gently push the paper into the slot and it sucks it in ever so slightly. Usually when I'm using this device, I'm doing 1 piece of paper and in the middle of something else. When it grabs the paper, it barely grabs it at all or its delayed. So I pull it out, shove it back in. Just frustrating.- Probably operator error, can't figure out how to scan multiple pages into a single PDFOverall, exactly what I wanted and the Cons definitely don't outweigh the Pros

When I first got it the firmware kept jamming and it would need to be completely reset before it would scan again. They did do an update to the software and it seems to be working fine now. It no longer gets stuck in the loop. The other software that came with it (Paperport) is well worth it and allows you to make your own PDF's and has OCR technology as well. Very goo product for home or small business. I will say this is not a NEAT system. If you want to go completely paperless with this machine you will need to manually label and place each item you scan in to the appropriate folders or files.

Best slim design and quality
This scanner just made my work from home life complete! This is the smallest and easiest to set up color scanner I've found on the market. It easily connected to my laptop via the USB adapter provided. It has an easy adjuster on the feed bar to control my documents as they go through the scanner - everything from my expense reports to little tiny receipts. And the scanning process is quick - no long waiting time for it to process on to your laptop.I like the fact that it has such a slim design that I can take it with me when I travel. I recently went to a trade show and had to scan in numerous client cards and used this scanner. It was fast and simple. The fact that you only need the USB cord makes it extra mobile. I plan on taking it with me every time I travel.

Good in theory, bad in practice.
Was excited for this product. I travel a lot for work and it was a nice thought to have a scanner I could throw in my bag for the occasional need to transmit a paper document via PDF. The set up was easy and it was packaged nicely. The problem came when I started scanning. I initially wanted to send a four page document. Suffice to say, after 45 minutes and nothing but crumpled paper, I gave up. The problem is, it cannot effectively pull one sheet at a time when stacked. It was just too much of a hassle for me. Thankful for easy returns with Amazon!

Scanning Smartly
Amazing product for the price and works well once you install the driver. If your new laptop doesn't have a DVD drive, the Visioneer website has downloadable drivers. Saved me a ton of coming and going while filing insurance claims from a recent flood. It will pay for itself in just one use in reduced aggravation alone. Buy this.
