Good tone in the tube screamer type family and if ...
This pedal is a little more expensive than a tube screamer, but keep in mind you are getting a high quality clean boost thrown in as well, not to mention a 3 band eq, where most overdrivesjust have the single tone knob. For me, the extra eq and the clean boost made it worth the extra money. Not to mention Chad really stands behind his pedals and provides outstanding customer service. When mine got a little scratchy sounding, I wrote him about it and he replied instantly and then offered to fix it for free. Try that with Boss or Ibanez.Good tone in the tube screamer type family and if you ever want to make another overdriveyour main squeeze down the road, remember again you can still use the clean boost.I like the clean boost on this as well as I like the MXR micro or the Keeley Katana.

SUPER flexible overdrive pedal
I bought this pedal after owning at least 10 different low to medium gain overdrive pedals, including ones from Catalinbread, Fulltone, EHX and others. Because of its combination of 3-band EQ, a 3-position toggle to change the Gain/Compression ratio, and a Boost channel that can work together with or independently from the Gain, the Super Signa Drive can create almost any classic rock guitar tone.In the left position, the toggle gives it more compression and gain (although it reduces the volume level). This gives a more "crunchy" sound with added gain. In the middle position, the bass is accentuated and the compression reduced. In the right position, it gives the most open, uncompressed sound. What impressed me most about this pedal compared to some of the others was its clarity and "open" sound. Side-by-side, the others I own all sound muffled in comparison.I also learned from Chad at Cmatmods that you can use an 18-volt power supply to open up the sound even more. I've seen some people mention on message boards that they thought it had a "fizzy" sound at higher gain settings. I did experience this briefly when I was experimenting, but I found that changing the order of pedals on my board completely eliminated the fizz and I couldn't be happier. This pedal won't give super-high gain for metal (they make other pedals for that), but if you like to play bluesy rock/classic rock, it's definitely worth checking out. I'm still figuring out all the different sounds I can get out of it and wish I had discovered it before I spent a LOT more money on all the other pedals it will now be replacing.
