Q: I was told to get a siphon tube tank.... Not sure what that is. Would this qualify as one?

Siphon tube tanks have a tube on the outlet valve inside the tank that goes to the bottom of the tank. When you open the valve what is on the bottom of the tank goes to the outlet. In this case liquid CO2. Not what you want for carbonating drinks where you use just the vapor. It is what you want if you want to fill another tank or such. If you have a non siphon tank turn it upside down to get liquid to come out. CO2 is in a liquid condition in the tank. THIS tank is non-siphon.

Q: Does the height of 27.2" include valving? If not, how much does that add?

I just did a quick measurement of mine and it was 27.75". This includes the black handle.

Q: Who has used this for airing up tires off road? What fittings, valve and gauges were used

I use this tank for off road, fittings are 1/4 fnpt, I use a valve with 2 gauges that i got from ebay and a handle, item number 192834656178. They also sell another valve with set pressure, item number 192327720568. I bought 3/8 hose and other things at harbour freight tools. It works fantastic. Cheaper to make than buy it from smittybilt or power tank, same result.
