Amazing
I should start by saying I am not usually one to leave reviews; however, I do read them and they weigh on my decision to buy certain products. I was reluctant to purchase the Owlet after reading some negative reviews and the price, but now that I have used it, I feel like it is important to share my experience for those of you weighing your options: it is really worth it - we have definitely been impressed by the technology and, as advertised, it makes us sleep more comfortably knowing that we will be alerted if our daughter stopped breathing (a fear I think most parents share). Something maybe less important to some, but something that speaks volumes to me about the company and reliability of the product is the design, packaging, and attention to detail. The unboxing experience was really well curated, organized and intuitive from the moment you take it out of the box. I did have some confusion with connecting the camera to WiFi and the customer service experience was quick and super easy in helping me troubleshoot the issue (can't use 5gz). Hoping my review can be helpful for those of you considering your purchase.

What you should know before spending $400.
First, Unfortunately, we were only able to use the sock for a few days because the poor connection kept triggering the alarm even at only 10 feet away from the base (not due to anything being wrong w/ our baby, just a lost connection notification). The NICU warned me that they had gotten this feedback from other parents who had purchased the owlet and I should have listened before spending this kind of money on a monitor.Second, we figured we could at least still use the monitor for our 2-year old. However, we realized that you can only see the video if you have the app open at all times on your phone. Meaning you can’t use your phone at all + need to disable your phone’s auto-lock and keep it on a charger at all times if you want the video or audio to be on consistently (like for nap time or overnight, as you would a normal monitor).Third, we are now (only 2 months in) experiencing poor audio and picture quality. The audio actually sometimes doesn’t even work at all and the video is choppy. There’s also been a 30 second delay time since day 1.Fourth and last - I submitted a ticket directly to Owlet about 3 weeks ago expressing all of these concerns, asking for advice on how to troubleshoot and/or asking if a return was possible. They just never responded... which is why I’m now leaving this review.Having a pre-term baby is a scary thing that makes parents feel extremely insecure and nervous to bring their baby home. I felt like this monitor would make us feel safer and more secure but we shortly realized it was completely unnecessary and I now wish I would’ve saved the money and put it towards a normal monitor and other newborn necessities. Especially since we now can barely even use it for its most basic and important function. Extremely disappointing. And with the lack of even a response from Owlet, I actually feel guilty for spending so much money on this when it could have gone to such better use for our family. There are so many options for monitors out there... my advice is to consider one that will meet your concerns as a parent for years to come. This is a very short term solution that you will not get much, if any, long term use out of. We’ve since had to buy another monitor (also found on Amazon for a much more reasonable price of about $70) that honestly works better and is far more useful than the Owlet. :(

Can’t connect to all Internet Providers
It is with heavy heart that i review this one a single star, it looks like a great robust and useful product but i find it super frustrating that this co’s website nor their Amazon description doesn’t disclose that it doesn’t work with certain Internet providers(Spectrum/charter) in my case.I spent my entire Saturday morning installing and trying to pair the Cam to the Wifi and it was only after i called customer service (very nice customer service rep) I realized this fact that needs to be in bold extra large fonts! So please be aware that this cam/sock will not pair with every Router nor every software offered by your Internet provider and Amazon should explain this in more depth.

least dependable and worst app ever made
I love the idea of the sock and camera being consolidated to a single app but given the app crashes regularly and the camera stops working all the time this is completely useless as a baby monitor. I spent about 8 hours talking to customer service in total and they just don't get it. This needs to work all the time to be useful and provide piece of mind. My wife and I have an 2018 iPad, a google pixel 3XL, a google pixel 3, a samsung galaxy tab s5e, and a fireHD tablet... the app did not work dependably on any of those devices.

Accurate, easy and visually pleasing. Priced too high.
Beautifully designed and very easy to use. We have been comparing simultaneously with a FDA approved medical grade pulse oximeter and have found the following: 1) there is ~20 second lag in the ability of the Owelet sock to pick up changes in heart rate and oxygen saturation; 2) The heart rate is very accurate +\- 2-3 bmp (beats per minute) and does not vary much with position/fit of the sock; 3) the saturation is on average +\-4-5% compared to the medical grade pulse oxymeter and is more sensitive to how well the sock fits/is put on.I think it is priced too high, especially when there is no option to buy it brand new without the video monitor on amazon. I would recommend it more strong if priced at $300 rather than $400. At the present price, it is cost prohibitive to many parents with medically sensitive children (premature babies, kids with neuromuscular disorders etc).Summary:1. Great product and fairly accurate (recent article comparing this and other product published in JAMA).2. Priced too high.3. Amazon needs to offer option to buy without video monitor.4. Would love to have a bigger sock option since we want to use for medical reasons (beyond 2-3 years of age)

Would recommend but the app is a pain.
This product does give me piece of mind and the picture quality is great. My criticism is the app.... the app is needed to use the product. The app gives me headaches. Sometimes it takes the app twenty minutes to load (yes you read that right). Sometimes the camera fails to load and sometimes the sock fails to load(to receive readings). Then you have to google how to trouble shoot the issues. I have had to trouble shoot I would say four times and I have had the product for approx 3 months. I have contacted customer support twice: once for the cord to the camera breaking (they sent me a new cord which took approx 4 weeks to come in the mail free of charge) and a second time for the app not bringing up the readings of the sock which they told me it was the app and they would let the developers know (the issue is now fixed after I deleted the app and started over).Overall I would recommend as it does bring me piece of mind.... just be aware that the app could be better.

Great product, a bit hefty on the price
Great product, but quite expensive up front. We previously used a Snuza Hero, but once our child started sleeping on their stomach it was causing false alarms too often. The Owlet is far more reliable, only giving us one alarm for low oxygen so far, and it was a false reading, but we're happy to have it. It's also great for me when I travel I can peek in and check on my son through the camera.

Mixed review.
Bought about 13 months ago, used for 7 months and had many problems.Camera temp isn’t correct to the bedroom temp. The camera constantly doesn’t show up on our phones. The sock base always malfunctions and can’t find babys vitals/stops showing vitals in the night/ can’t connect. Just recently the sock stopped working completely, we couldn’t even get a year out of it. I did contact support and they are sending a new sensor. All in all i love when it does work. I love that I can see/check on baby while I’m away. I also love that it keeps track of all her sleeps, when shes in light sleep/deep sleep/awake so I really know how much sleep she is getting. My baby likes to wake and then chill out in the crib 1-2 hrs before making a sound so we would never really know what time she was actually awake otherwise. If there were something similar out there I would be trying that out next baby though.

READ REVIEWS
The app and base station were VERY difficult to set up and would randomly disconnect I read the reviews and thought maybe people were just tech illiterate but NO this monitor is not worth the money I understand wanting what’s best for your child but take your money and buy a monitor that you can actually use
