Get the hardcover. Awesome book.
I should've gotten the hardcover, because the cover art would've looked incredible with the hard binding. If you want a glimpse of what some of your favorite (and not-so-favorite) Discworld characters love to eat most, this is the book for you. The recipes are accompanied by gorgeous illustrations, another reason I should've splurged on the hardcover. The soft-cover's pages don't have the pretty, pale ivory color of the hardcover's pages; it looks rather yellowy gray.

a real cat shaker, classic Pratchett
I found Disc World some 5 or 6 yrs previously and have read everything I can find. Some of the earlier books were a bit uneven until Sir Terry hit his stride, then each new one was eagerly anticipated, and now the tragic dx of early onset Alzheimer's will end his life and with it, the Disc-verse. This book is ten yrs or more old but just recently discovered by me. I ordered 2 copies for gifts fr Amazon but was sent notice they were unavailable so I ordered one from Amazon UK and the 2nd one after the holidays for my son/myself when Amazon US had stock again. My son & my nephew enjoyed Nanny Ogg very much. I started reading it myself and giggled so hard I pestered the cat to the point he had to leave my lap in a huff. Bad news is I accidentally left it at my daughter's hair salon and have to wait until she comes home for me to finish it. In the meanwhile I have The Compleat Ankh-Morporkh at hand and can order Turtle Recall if I need a fix.Disc World fans will love this - if you are not yet but are a Brit humor lover, become a Pratchett-ite. No regrets, I promise.

Fun in the Kitchen - Ogg style
I would say a "Must Have" for any Discworld fanatic, but unfortunately it's not a "Must Have"... what it is however is a very fun, whimsical cookbook assembled by our favorite dirty minded witch of Lancre - Nanny Ogg. Though this book does contain recipes (and most of them appear fairly legit) the reason to buy this book is for the old fashioned wisdom that used to come in cookbooks. The more of the Discworld books that you have read, the more you will recognize the names and people mentioned in the recipes. Everyone from the Patrician, to Nobby's Mum, to The King of Lancre have contributed their favorites (Even CMOT Dibbler has contributed his "Sausage-inna-bun recipe). There are also a series of "Ethnic" foods from Klatch, Quirm, Lancre, and many other of the Discworld lands including multiple Dwarven recipes which (include the ever popular "Dwarf Bread.")Throughout the cookbook you will find not only recipes, but also Nanny's quips, and advise, as well as notes from the "editors" who are very concerned about Nanny's tendency towards the vulgar. It is safe to have around the house because the kiddies won't get the references as Nanny always states them with double meaning and a wink. At the end of the book there is a section on life and etiquette which is absolutely hysterical. Having just been married two years ago, the section on weddings nearly had me in tears, specifically the instructional part about how to have the obligatory wedding fight among the guests.Note to those of you wavering about the purchase of this book. It's cute, it's funny, but it is by no means a novel. If you plan to sit down with it and read it as a book, you will be done in less than an hour and will probably be disappointed. If you are the type who has a few "Discworld junkie" friends, this is the perfect help to any party... you can all get together and make dwarf bread and see who's flies the farthest. This would also make an excellent gift for a Discworld fan. If you are planning to put it in your kitchen with the rest of your cookbooks, I would advise getting the hardcover version.

Hilarious gift for a friend
Bought this for a friend going through a rough time. She loves all things from this author. It totally made her laugh quite a bit. Well worth the joy it brought! Some of the recipes seem to be real recipes and some of them are just funny jokes relating to Terry’s books. The etiquette section was hilarious too!

Great addition to the Disc World books!
This is an enjoyable tongue-in-cheek "serious" cookbook written by Nanny Ogg who is one of Terry Pratchett's more notorious witches. She also gives valuable life wisdom for all you budding witches out there. For example; she addresses the etiquette when giving a dinner party of where to seat the man who makes a living putting weasels down his trousers at fairs (Give him a really soft cushion since he suffers for his Art.) as well as other must have advice for the happy homemaker. Some of the recipes are actually appealing and I will most definitely be trying them. I particularly like the looks of the recipe for Deep-Sea Blowfish. This cookbook is a nice little insert to the whole Disc World series.

Fun to read.
Not sure how accurate or good the recipes are, but it is a fun read. Nanny Ogg is a great character and some of the recipes are good fun.

The only thing that had me disappointed was that her recipes weren't accurate to what they would have been in 'The Joye of Snacks". I've got a bit of revenge to get and was hoping to get some inspiration. But though there are fewer recipes than I would have liked, the ones in there have taught me quite a lot. Like a few different names for a few different spices and such. I'll let you be just as surprised as I was.

Nanny Ogg-a Pratchett Original
This is a wonderful appendix to the Discworld series, full of the sideways humor that infuses all his books. Fans of the series will recognise the "contributors" of the various recipes which, by the way, are all cookable and eatable; that's something that not all cookbooks can claim! The only complaint I have is that the amounts are in grams and liters: you need a conversion table. Also, though I have 30 years cooking experience, I don't recognise some of the ingredients by name. I assume there are American words for some of them. So, even if, or especially if, you don't cook, you will enjoy this book.

Very Amusing
This book had me laughing out loud in places which as I read it in several different places was at times embarrassing at at other times greatly irritated my other half. It is not a long book. It is written by two people but they clearly know each other well as it seemed to be written by one person. I am familiar with the Disc World Nanny Ogg belongs to but I think if some one read the book without having read any of the Disc World Series they would still find it enjoyable. I read the book on my Kindle and on my IPad and found no problems with either version. The illustrations are pen and ink type drawings and skilfully done.

Xmas present
Bought this as a Christmas present for my dad. Seeing as he likes both Pratchett and cooking I figured that I was on to a winner. Glad to be proved right. He spent most of Christmas Day and Boxing Day chuckling at Nanny Ogg's words of wisdom, and interrupting whatever everybody else was doing to read us his favourite passages. In the short time I was there I only got to try a couple of the recipes which he insisted on having a go at, both of which went down well with all members of the family. This bodes well for the rest of the recipes in the book, even if Dad did pull a funny face at Nobby's Mum's Distressed Pudding…All in all, a good present for the old man, but whether you're buying it for yourself or someone else, you're in for an education and a good time.

If you are a fan of Terry Pratchett, just get it - you won't regret it. Strawberry Wobbler is a must!

Superb read
This is a mad little book that is well worth a read. Obviously, you will get more out of it if you cook, but some of the chapters based around social etiquette and the like, from the perspective of Witch and Discworld native Gytha 'Nanny' Ogg, are priceless. The artwork by Paul Kidby is fantastic and hilarious, a perfect compliment to the writing, and the excerpts 'written' by other Discworld characters as well as the editors of the book etc. really round off an excellent read.Oh...and you could even try the recipes ;)

Fantastic Book
I bought this as a gift for a friend, but have read the book years ago and it remains one of my favourites in the Discworld series. Nanny Ogg's dialogue is just so cleverly written, even if you're not intending on trying out any of the recipes you should definitely pick this book up to marvel in her brilliance, humour and true-to-life advice.
