Stanley Hardware S808-857 1495 Heavy Duty Gate Latches in Black

Wow! This is amazing. We've dealt with cheap latches for years, then ordered this great latch for our gate. It's smooth moving & very attractive. Great product for a reasonable price! Thanks!

Super simple to install. Not really heavy duty though as my gate snapped the latch pin right in half.Actually needed one more because I like the look and functionality of this latch but last week this listing said doesn't ship to Canada but today, it says it will ship to Canada but I already purchased this latch from a different seller for more money though!! :(Looks nice but latch pin might bend and snap over time.

I think the product itself is likely a good one. It is heavy duty, and appears well made. Beware, you will need to refer back to the picture of the product above to install the product as the illustration on the back of the packaging is wrong - or at least very misleading - and there are no instructions included. The illustration on the packaging shows two screws on the outside bracket, and four on the gate side of the post. They seem to have left several screws out of the illustration, which is what is misleading. Once you see how it is installed in the above picture, it is easy to install. Oh, and don't try to find this product on the Stanley website - I will tell you it is impossible. A search of the name or product number on multiple Stanley websites for hardware, tools, and even gates gets you nowhere. It's too bad that the product is solid, but the support and effort by Stanley appears poor.

Did a replacement. This one was a little bigger and seems a little stronger. Both made by Stanley. I bought the first one from Home Depot, but they did not carry it anymore.

This arrived in good time and I replaced a similar mounted on a Vinyl Fence. Install was easy although there was one piece that included that did not make any sense to me. I left it out with no issues. Oh, I also needed to use other screws than those included with the unit, no big deal. I will recommend to other people in my area who have similar issues with the units on their vinyl fences.
