Seminal Gospel Roots
This is a must have for serious gospel fans. These songs are classic and timeless. These phenomenal acts were in their prime at this time, and you can feel the electricity in the air. No wonder the audience is so responsive, all of the acts were on fire!It was also cool to see the fifth Clark Sister, Denise. She left the group in the early days. The reason was vague (there is an episode about it on the series UNSUNG). I've looked her up on youtube, but only came up with 2 clips of her. One was an audio only recording of her preaching, and the other was her singing/preaching at some church but there was no information. I think it would be cool for The Clark Sisters to have a reunion CD with Denise. Just putting it out there...:-)

Oh to have been there!
I am always happy when I can get my hands on DVD's featuring Gospel Greats. This was not digitally remastered, although both the audio and video are very acceptable. It is indeed recorded live, but is not a continuous concert. All of the performances are excellent, however the producers elected to show only number by Shirley Caesar. I live in Canada, so finding materials such as this is fairly hard. Since this was recorded in the 70's the concert captures that vibe. Being an avid Black Gospel Music collector it was great to be able to see what all of these greats looked like performing a lot of my favourites.
