Barbarossa Brothers Cut Throat Razor - 24K Gold Plated

The shavette is poorly and cheaply designed. Doesn't hold the blade into place well at all. If you close it while the blade inside there's a big chance the blade will fall out, that's how bad the design of the shavette is. Plus mine as you can see in the picture, is not even straight to be able to properly close it. Anyway, unhappy with the product, I wouldn't advise purchasing it.

I bought this Barbarossa Razor after my razor was confiscated by uninformed Greek Airport Police during a return to the U.K.. Feeling really annoyed and in need of a shape up of my beard, I decided to treat myself to a nice razor. Having used straight razors for a number of years for my beard, I can say that this is one of the best I’ve ever used. This shavette holds the blade in place without an issue and releases with the same ease. The weight is well balanced and there is little need to apply too much pressure when shaving. It feels nice in your hand and doesn’t feel like it will break after a few shaves. What I like most about this (aside from the price) is the detail. I initially thought the scale (handle) would be plastic but it isn’t. The entire razor from point to scale is metal with nice detail to boot. I would be definitely looking to Barbarossa as a benchmark for my next bit of kit.

Beautiful razor however there is one big BUT... The main problem is that razor itself is beautiful however due to not holding blades inside properly it can lead to cut or any form of injury. Beautiful but poorly engineered. One star only because they are not fit for purpose, otherwise they would receive 4 or 5 stars

After the first use I looked like i’d been in a dual with Zorro with both hands tied behind my back! Never the less, with a steady hand i appear to be getting the hang of it.

Looks good and that's all it has going for it as it won't hold a blade securely thus is useless. I've a Parker which performs well but I fancied something different. This was a huge disappointment and a refund is now being sort as am not going to waste my time exchanging. Sorry but this is not good enough.

I did not want to ruins your stars but no choice(( let you and everybodyelse knows that the handle is NOT real gold plated because it has a black mark on it and all the time I need to wipe it off. That more look like a brass to me NOT GOLD! anyway, quick delivery and handy tool. Thanks

While the product is fine and reasonably made the handle is badly designed. From my photo you will see when closed and suppose to be safe it has the end of the blade sticking out and is dangorous, please take care when handling it. Nice product other than that.

Overall a very nice product. You feel the weight of it, a lot heavier than any razor I've used before. The weight (I feel) makes this much more comfortable to use. Before I purchased I read reviews saying that it didn't hold the blade in place, I haven't got that problem at all. My only slight complaint is that the razor didn't fold back into the handle centred so the blade would catch the edge, didn't take much to just ease it back to centre and now it folds in perfectly every time.Coming from a straight razor to this has made me realise how blunt my straight was, definitely treat this with respect.Overall, do you really need a gold plated shavette? No. Does it affect the use of it? No. But why not. The addition of a case for it adds a nice touch. Would recommend.
