Elderberries: The Beginner's Guide to Foraging, Preserving and Using Elderberries for Health Remedies, Recipes, Drinks…

The recipes are inspired with the drinks being particularly inspired. I have to admit that I don't forage, I just buy the elderberry supplies that I need. The elderberry syrup recipe came in particularly handy two weeks ago when we were snowed in and my family came down with the crud. I boiled up a huge batch of the stuff and force fed it to my brood. I'd have preferred a tincture, but time was of the essence. Everyone was well in less than a week, and I'm giving the credit to the elderberry syrup I made.

I enjoyed this book. Much of the listed benefits I was already aware of. I was looking forward to the pictures but was disappointed in the black & white, which was much harder to get an idea what the plant would look like. However, there were some good descriptions to compare the plants to other similar plants, so you’d know you weren’t picking the wrong thing while foraging.But my favorite thing about this book are all the recipes and especially the old ones or European ones that have years of use and tradition.Anyone interested in using elderberries for family health or just for old fashioned recipes will appreciate this book.

I enjoyed this book, but it was very old fashioned. It gave short and limited information and the pictures and charts were in black and white so not so easy to see. Great if you are a beginner just wanting basic information or if you want recipes. The second half of the book is full of recipes.

Lots of elderberries grow around me. Books tells me what I can do with them. Very good info.

This is a very well written informative book on anything you may want to know about elderberries. Well worth the book price. Many very useful recipes. If you want to make your own elderberry syrups for the cold/flu season, this book will tell you how. I am looking forward to this year's elderberry picking and using some of these recipes.

Waste of time, is all about boiling water and ugly American measures like "quarts" and "cups".
