Tough, Rugged, and Accurate
I bought this compass for hiking and camping that I do in the woods up north. It arrived quickly and everything was in great condition. I tested and used the compass in snowy conditions and it worked well with no issues. I was able to align with north and sight the objects that I wanted to. The compass is definitely stout and a little on the heavy side so I wouldn’t consider it a minimalist compass, but if you want rugged and the real aluminum alloy body - this is it! The box came with the compass, a pouch for the compass, the paracord bracelet with fire starter and whistle attached, a lanyard string, and an instruction manual. It was packaged well and I was excited when it arrived. This purchase was a great addition to my gear bag!

Great deal, awesome compass
Great value for the money! The compass is awesome and very rugged. I compared it to the compass on my iPhone and they both point to north. The paracord fire starter bracelet is a nice bonus and once I figured out how to strike the flint in the best way, it sparks up every time. Great deal and very pleased with everything included!

Nice quality kit at an affordable price
This is a nice quality kit. The para cord bracelet is assembled with several green strands and I can see from the end that there the real 7 strands of individual white inner cord inside. The compass exterior is made of metal and will definitely handle the beating of my next adventure! It's not as light as the Cammenga I previously used but I also only payed a quarter of the price. If you're looking for military style compass at a fair price you cant go wrong with this.

Very solid and more importantly, accurate! Nice set
A great set for hiking. Comparing this compass to some others I have including the one on my phone, it is accurate. If you do the same, make sure you don't hold your phone too close to the compass otherwise the magnetic field from the battery/electronics will mess with the compass needle! Overall a great product and makes a great gift for outdoors people.

Accurate Compass with many features and military performance
I've been very pleased with my Northies compass. I've gotten a lot of use out of it. For everything you receive, this is a great deal. The fire starter bracelet took me some time to figure out how to spark it, but once I got the the right grip and enough force it is very easy to repeatedly get sparks from the flint. The carrying pouch has a snap button to keep the compass secure. I am happy with this purchase

Opened and adjusted so it usable now!
I was tired to return a another compass back to Amazon and fill sorry... This compass was not accurate as all before. As someone mentioned in review - top view readings don't metch with sideway ( compass lays untouched). Readings are 4 degrees off...Which one is true? So, I opened bottom 4 screws and found that heard of compass simply siliconed to bottom plate (plastic plate). Sure it wasn't properly aligned (the verticall line on side of oil field globe didn't align with upper lead big vertical line that your use to see through on distant objects.See my pictures - I rubbed silicone off using toothpick and separated globe from bottom plate then turned globe till good alignment to verticall line on upper cover. Took couple tries ( also, it helped to unscrew eye piece so you clearly see the center of wheel and align side line of globe with center of wheel). Now I can surely say - yes, side readings are the same as top view readings. Now you can put a dot of any glue to prevent globe from turning but I didn't because when you assemble everything back, the globe sits secure enough. One issue was fixed! Another is - the North mark line on the very outside (bearing scale) was off like 3 degrees... I don't use it but annoying to see... That scale ring also was siliconed to body. Use toothpick as well to separate and align. Then tiny bit of glue. If you have issue with plastic lense pops out of upper lead - look for wire ring that probably doesn't sit all way in grove. Just clean the grove with small flat screwdriver and chop shorter this wire ring and it will secure lense property. FINALLY I HAVE WORKING COMPASS!!! Wow, Chinese quality is terrible...or they need better eyeglasses or eye doctors? Anyway, now I can trust my readings/bearings! And YES - the Inclinnometer is just a joke, throw away crap. I took it off first! And YES compass is HEAVY, TOO HEAVY for travel/ hiking but it is perfect for my needs to find TV satellite lines of site. Heavy compass is not jumping too much on your hands while aiming towards satellite bearings. Hope you got the idea what is doable to get working tool.Unfortunately line workers in China just not accurate when gluing scales and no matter how expensive your mechanical compass is - it will be off ... until you sit, take time to think what is wrong and how to adjust.Thanks.
