This is a laminate cabinet, but a very high quality one. It is assembled with glued pegs and those built in clamps to hold it all together as the glue dries. There are a lot of parts and a lot of hardware to put together. It took me about two hours. The result though is a very sturdy unit. The amount of hardware ensures that it all goes together with precision and everything is nice and square. I have never had a filing cabinet with that extra front wheel, but I will never buy another one without one, I tell you that. My old cabinet fell over four times as I move files over because there was nothing bracing the drawer when it was fully extended. My single complaint is that there were no extra screws. Seriously, how much would it have cost to put one additional screw for each of the three types of screw?

UPDATE: The company took a few more days, but did get back to me, and with a tracking number for the new piece! They apologized and were adamant to make it right, and they sure did! It has been holding up great ever since and looks absolutely amazing in my office!Ordered this filing cabinet and the matching desk. I don’t use my office too much, but with it being tax time it’s about to get some use! Unfortunately when I walked into my office the other day I noticed one of the folder file rack pieces had came through the front of the filing cabinet (pictures attached). I’m not too sure how this happened, especially since I haven’t put anything in that bottom part of the filing cabinet yet. My assumption is that the front piece was just a little weak and the pressure from the rack piece finally caught up to it. No worries - I decided I’d contact the manufacturer to see if they’d be able to help me out & send a replacement for that front panel. Unfortunately, I’ve emailed them twice now and haven’t received any response. Weak filing cabinet & even weaker customer support. Which is honestly a shame because like everything else I own from this company, this filing cabinet was beautiful.

It’s a well printed pattern, 3D printed to look like reclaimed wood. Feels sturdy enough to last for as long as needed. Dimensions are spot on and the rollers work great. Took some hardcore assembly, but if you take your time and follow directions exactly, it will come out great. One tip, use the inside metal rod holes for standard letter size

This is a fine example of what you can do with particle board and also a fine example of where particle board should not be used. It took 2+ hours to assemble. Unbelievable number of individual pieces. 15 separate particle board components along with 129 assorted fasteners (screws, cam's, dowel pins, etc). I would rate the sturdiness higher, but the file folder guides are small diameter metal rods that bend if you load too many file folders.

This 3 drawer file cabinet has a very strong chemical smell. If I stayed in our office for a longer period of time (an hour or so), my chest would start to hurt. At first I thought it was just me, but my husband complained of the exact same issues after he spend a few hours in our home office. Every time we stayed in the room, our chest would hurt. The chemical smell was pretty overpowering. After a few weeks, my husband had to throw it away as it got dangerous to stay in the room. All the chest pain disappeared almost immediately (well, after we aired the room overnight). I almost wanna complain to get our money back as the cabinet is obviously hazardous to health. Would not recommend at all!!!

Ultimately I got a decent result, but this product has many annoying problems. The screws holding the drawer slides on are tiny, fine-threaded and small diameter, making them much more likely to strip out than hold tight. By contrast, I recently built a similar product from the Sauder brand, and their slide fasteners are large, coarse-threaded barrels by comparison. The instructions are a nightmare of poor planning - check out Step 8 in the photo, which is actually dozens of steps crowded together in an incoherent bunch (like most of the other “steps”). I found myself backing up and disassembling sections several times to include a part I missed before. Other brands manage to do this with better parts, clearer step-by-step instructions, and a lesser parts count than this Monarch Specialties piece.

Excited to get this this fie cabinet to compliment the desk I bought from the same company. The desk was difficult to assemble but manageable so we felt we could handle putting this little guy together. Oh how wrong we were. The directions are so confusing and the material incredibly flimsy. The damage in the picture was from pushing the wooden dowel into the required hole... with our thumb. Per the company's request (in the enclosed materials), we went to their website and ordered replacement parts instead of returning the item to Amazon. We have been waiting nearly two months. There is no contact email and the phone number has gotten me nowhere. I wish I would have just returned it within the return window as I'm now assuming I'm never getting my replacement pieces. 😢

Excellent quality wood, durable wheels, attractive design. We have this piece next to an expensive desk and dining room, and it doesn't look out of place at all. Holds a full size desk printer, like a color Brother printer, with roomy drawers. Very stable, no movement while printing. Assembly was straightforward and solid. Impressed and very happy with this piece.

Looks like a good product but a nightmare to assemble. I’ve assembled a fair share of IKEA style furniture With no problems but this had me give up and hire someone to assemble for me. It wouldn’t be so horrid if only they had pre drilled the drawer roller holes so that you didn’t have to guess/painfully measure where to put them.

I am surprised I didn't see this in the reviews, the dimensions are clearly shown on the website, 14.5 inches for the width of the drawer, but that is NOT the size of a legal folder - they are 14.75 inches, as I discovered when my brand new hanging folders wouldn't fit and I did a research on the internet to confirm. So the width would have needed to be 15 inches to make legal folders fit. Not a huge deal as I can use the letter size folders, but that means 1) taking apart the unit to change the pins, 2) return the stuff I bought, and 3) not being able to fully take advantage of the space in the drawer when space is very precious here, so not particularly happy. I may just trim them all with a pair of scissors, but again, not happy...Other than that the unit is great, took me about 2 hours to put together and I was really taking my time. Didn't realize that the "A" on the drawings was to glue the wood pins, since we don't glue them when we put together Ikea units, I didn't understand what the rectangular thingies on the designs were. Now that I have to take it apart I'm glad I didn't glue them - even if you only glue one side, the glue spills out and probably would have glued the unit together and now I would be even more upset.I rated it a four because other than the legal size issue, the unit is really great, fits very well with the rest of my furniture, I like the 5th caster that will prevent the unit from tipping over when my file drawer is full.

Definitely not easy to assemble, it has about 70-80 assembly I missed one while I was adding the middle bar support, but the fact that almost every part has multiple support parts I was able to get away with it. Using glue to harden the connections and make it sturdier makes it nice and sturdy. Its a very nice cabinet that looks like a luxury piece with the right combination of desks. It rolls easily, and parks nicely with the breaks. The drawers open nicely. The 2 top drawers are not very deep, so organizational skills are needed.

Solid gaming organizer for me... took 2 grown men 2 + hours to assemble however. Instructions are clear as mud.
