The fineness of the grit is exactly what I need for my very fussy bantam chickens. They refuse to eat regular "chicken" oyster shell because it's much coarser, and they do need the calcium provided by the oyster shell for their egg production. Have just now added it to their regular mash, but I'm quite sure they'll like it.

I mix this with chick grit for my budgies because this is not actually grit - it is a tiny mineral flake light as a feather. I believe it fortifies my birds' diet, but it is not grit as advertised - that part is misleading, I believe. So I mix it with what I know is grit, giving my birds a wholesome diet used as a mineral top dressing to their pellets and seed.

My Gouldians love this gravel and their eggs reflect adequate calcium level in their diet. (I do add egg shells, though.) Never had birds actually prefer a gravel before. They really like this one.

What I appreciate most about Higgins products is their high quality. This is the first brand of grit my budgies seemed to actually use and not waste! Love the anise smell! Appreciate the cost difference too.

My parakeet loves this grit, and I love that the calcium keeps her strong. I just wish this came in larger bags.
