Good 2nd hand book, little beat up
Came with a hole in the cover, all marked up, with some other kids name inside it. That aside it's a great scale book, and quality intonation, and becoming familiar with fingering across key signatures in 1st position is something that I think any new violinist should get their head around

Beginning scales.
This is good for a beginning student, larger notes, and printing made to not overwhelm the student

Very helpful, but poor layout
Very helpful but awful print size. I know the book is older but it’s hard to tell notes (quarter, half) apart at times. Still a good book so I won’t knock a star for being older

Love it and recommend it to beginning Violin students of all ages, and to teachers for use with their students. :)Exercises are very simple, and students start learning double stops early in their studies, which is a plus, in my opinion.

Boring exercises that, when followed carefully, will improve your violin skills considerably.
Playing scales is boring. And unexciting. And tedious. And a great way to improve fingering, bowing, sight-reading, and scale knowledge. So while almost every beginning student hates playing scales over and over, it's still the best way to "get good" quickly. So exercise books like this one are a good way to improve. The book is aimed at beginners and those with a little experience, and provides a set of exercises of increasing challenge. Working through the book will improve the user's skills, no question, as long as the person is diligent in working these exercises, focusing on fingering, bowing, and spacing. The contents are not exciting, but as a set of graded exercises they are crucial to moving from beginner to intermediate levels. Recommended.
