My parents have mobility challenges with stepping in/out of their bathtub. I researched various products and purchased this Gateway Premium Sliding Bath Transfer Bench since it has a swivel seat that helps my parents sit, turn and lift their legs to step in/out of the tub; minimizing the risk of them tripping and falling. At the time of this review, my parents have used their sliding bath transfer bench for ~3 weeks and really enjoy using this bench. Listed below are their likes and dislike on their sliding bath transfer bench.Likes+ Padded swivel seat for comfort+ Lightweight (easy to move in/out of the tub)+ Very sturdy and stable bench with grab bars for assistance+ Easy to use (sit, turn and lift their legs)+ Blue color seat (helps guide my mom's cognitive impairment)+ Easy to assemble (no tools required and assembly was less than 15 minutes)+ Affordable (as compared to a walk-in tub or lift chair)+ Easy to clean and dry off+ Fits into a standard bathtub (see pictures) and the bench can be adjusted to different heightsDislike- Need to stand up to bathe perineal area. As a suggestion for continuous improvement to the chair, allow a removeable part of the seat to enable washing the perineal area.

My father recently had a severe stroke resulting in complete paralysis of his right arm and leg. His home has bathtub/shower units so we could not get him in and out of the bath over the edge of the tub without at least two people holding him up and risking a fall which was embarrassing and dangerous for him. We looked into replacing one shower/bath with a walk in tub or shower stall but that would have cost thousands of dollars so I ordered this product hoping it would make bath time easier. Assembly is straightforward and simple and the assembled unit is lightweight and easy to move and position in the tub. The leg height is adjustable to get the right height for the edge of the tub and the rubber feet are adjustable to fit the slope of the bottom edge of the bathtub perfectly to keep it stable and prevent slipping. The ability to swivel the seat in any direction and lock it onto position is especially helpful as Dad can sit down on the seat facing out from his walker to get undressed with help from his wife and then swivel the seat and lift his bad leg over the edge of the tub before sliding the seat into the shower space. The lap belt and grab bar offer an extra sense of security and stability for those with mobility issues. He can now get into the shower with only his wife helping him which is much more dignified for him and safer for both of them as she has a bad back that prevents her from being able to safely lift and support him alone. Dad was thrilled to be able to have a real shower after a few weeks of sponge baths that never really left him feeling completely clean from head to toe and my stepmother is relieved that she can now help him with his bath without assistance. We are all very happy with this product.

My wife does not have use of her left hand/arm or left leg after a stroke. This product makes showering possible for her. The build quality is great, nice fit and function, smooth rotation, smooth easy "side action". The control latches are easy to operate and in the right place for her needs. If a person has the need for it to be used "in the opposite direction" I am sure it would work just as well. I was worried that it wouldn't be long enough but the side travel is good and keeps it compact and out of the way when stored. I weight about 270 lbs. and did not feel threatened by the stability although 330 lbs. rating seems like a lot for this unit. If this fits your needs and your space it is a great value.

Overall this is a game change for my son's ability to shower. No longer do we have to risk lifting or transferring into a seat in the tub. The height is adjustable and can be set to be level with the legs in the tub to the legs outside of the tub. The angled rubber feet can be twisted to be flat and the whole thing is stable. I cut the shower curtain to fit around the rails.Note: the chair was shipped in a box with the two rails already assembled, but they were backwards and the chair didn't lock on the spring pegs. Once I realized the problem, it was easy to disassemble and reverse the rails. It is now working perfectly.

The media could not be loaded.  Product is great but my legs of my front of the tub are too short because my tub is built up. I found the chair to be very secure on the inside of the tub but the legs are short, so I secured it to my handy handle in my tub with heavy duty zip ties works great.

This is a wonderful transfer chair, safe, and easy to operate. Only comment I have is would be great if they had different sizes (bigger chair area). If you are a bigger person, you hang off a little.

This is a good chair! It was easy to put together. It is sturdy with two legs in the tub and 2 legs on the floor. Sitting on the chair is great and the twist and turn motion is perfect for my 89 year old mom with some dementia. The caregiver manipulated the twist and turn handle and help the patient slide the seat over into locked position over the tub. I cut two slits about 12 inches long in the shower curtain to fit around the legs of the chair. That worked great and the shower curtain can still be used when the chair is out of the tub. We are very pleased with the function and stability of the chair.

After researching and reviewing many bath transfer seats I purchased this one for my mother. No issues with assembly, I felt it was sturdy, stable and was adjustable for the older style bathtub it was being put into. It took a bit of practice but she got the knack of rotating the seat, getting it into the bath and back. She's very happy with the seat, it now allows her to shower and wash herself in the tub without assistance. I liked the fact that the seat easily rotates so she wouldn't have to struggle turning herself toward the bathtub. I feel it's well worth the money, it gives a loved one with some mobility issues a little more independence.

At first I was reluctant to buy this from Amazon.ca suspicting that it would be of poor qualit: but I thought I would take a chance. Well, all doubts were proven wrong ... this is a sturdy, good quality product ... I am very pleased. Just purchased and wanted to make a few initial comments. I will post again once we've lived with it for a while.The product seems very well made. I must admit, my heart sank a little when I opened the box to see it all disassembled. (I'm used to receiving items either fully assembled, or almost assembled, and the number of pieces was overwhelming.) But, with a quick look, and a snap-snap-snap -- all the pieces came together very quickly, and we had it in the shower within an hour of getting it in the door -- and that included getting all the components out of the box and out of the secure wrapping! ; )Initial impressions: very impressed with its solid nature; swivel/transfer seat also appears very sturdy; cushion bottom is great for comfort, and will allow water to pass through. Adjust simply and easily. I am very pleased to have purchased this product, given that many online health and mobility devices are often a "hit or miss". This one is superb for: easy assembly, ease of adjustment, ease of use. Who could ask for more? When one is mobility challenged, one is always looking for something to make things a little easier. This one hit it out of the park!
